The Shark Park Playground in Brigantine may have reopened in 2015, but it’s still looking as fabulous today as it was back then. Our recent July 2022 visit showed us there is still much to love and so much to do at this wonderful South Jersey playground.
Since we’re local to South Jersey and about a 15 minute drive from Brigantine this has been one of our go-to playgrounds since my boys were little.

Where is Shark Park Playground located?
Shark Park is located in Brigantine in Atlantic County at West Brigantine Avenue and 26th Street South. There is no fee to enjoy the park. The park is part of the Brigantine park system.
What kind of playground equipment does the Shark Park Playground have?
Once you enter the playground archway, you might not be sure which way to turn. There are tons of different activities and play areas for all age levels, all situated close together so you can keep track of all the kids while they play.
Almost all of the playground equipment is wooden with a marine theme. There’s a play boat, a large wooden structure that has boat features, a mermaid tunnel, swimming sharks, a mermaid, a pirate, and more.
Are there swings?
There are two swing structures at this Brigantine playground. One has 4 traditional swings and 1 tire swing.
The other swing structure has 4 baby swings and 1 two-person swing for a baby and another person.
Are there slides?
There are 4 slides at this playground in Brigantine. The first slide will catch your attention from the parking lot. It’s a tall, green, twisting, tunnel slide.
In the middle of the playground, there is an open green curvy slide and a green tunnel slide that is slightly curvy.
On the boat at the back of the playground is a wide green slide.
What special features does the playground offer?
Climb! Climb! Climb! There are climbing walls, climbing platforms, climbing webs. One of the main climbing features is this series of walls with a rock climbing wall, climbing web, and a group of wooden squares with rock climbing notches.
It’s not just about the climbing but there were also different bridges for crossing from one area to the next.
If that wasn’t enough there is a mermaid tail tunnel, 4 person see-saw, stepping stools, ride-on sharks, monkey bars, and spinners.
What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
There is wood mulch ground cover at the playground.
Is the playground at Shark Park Playground accessible?
The most accessible area of this Brigantine playground is the boat area to the left of the entrance. It has a wide ramp, but it is not flush to the ground.
This boat also has wide platforms. A guest could roll over to steer the boat or access other areas.
The main playground structure does have a ramp that is flush to the ground but much of the space on the structure is narrow with columns that could be tough to navigate.
Is there shade available at the Shark Park Playground?
While the playground is not surrounded by trees there are plenty of areas to get out from the sun. The nooks and crannies of the lower level of the main structure has shady spots. The roof of the boat structure provides shade. There’s also a small building in a corner of the playground for shade.
Between the back of the playground and the baskeball courts is a small pavilion.
Where is parking?
There is a small parking lot and free street parking. There’s an additional parking lot on the basketball court side of the park.
Are there restrooms at Shark Park Playground?
There are not restrooms located at the playground.
What else is there to do at Shark Park Playground?
In addition to the playground at Shark Park Playground, there is a basketball court, baseball field, and open grassy areas.
Are there walking trails?
There are no walking trails for this playground, but the playground is only steps from the beach. You can walk the beach before or after your playground visit. Brigantine is also very pedestrian-friendly. You can walk through the town on paved sidewalks.
Are there fields or courts for sports?
There is a basketball court and a baseball field at the Shark Park.

All of the playground equipment is fenced in from the road and sports fields, so children can not easily wander. Additionally, there are plenty of benches and places for caregivers to stop and rest while watching the kids play.
