The playground is located behind the municipal building and library at 480 DeKorte Drive in Franklin Lakes. It is not visible from the road or parking lot and there are no signs pointing out that there is a playground behind the buildings. The park is part of the Franklin Lakes Borough park system.

What kind of playground equipment does the Franklin Lakes Borough Municipal Field have?
The playground offers two main structures for play, a large structure with 6 slides. There’s another large structure behind that that offers a slide and climbing features. There are swings, climbing features, a treehouse, and more.

There are two swing structures. One swing structure has 3 traditional swings.

The other swing structure has 4 baby swings.

Are there slides?
The playground structure to the back has one curvy slide.

The main playground structure has 6 slides: twisting, side-by-side, straight, and wavy. All of the slides are open slides.

There are a few features that make this playground special. This rock climbing wall has surfaces that can be climbed on all sides.

The ground cover is wood mulch.

Is the playground at Franklin Lakes Borough Municipal Field accessible?
While there is a ramp on the playground equipment in the back of the playground there wasn’t much one could do when at the top, other than slide the slide or climb back down. There were no accessible swings. Additionally, the play areas on the bottom are not ones that would be accessible for a child in a stroller or wheelchair.

Is there shade available at the Franklin Lakes Borough Municipal Field Playground?
The playground is pretty open to the sun. There are some areas around the perimeter where there are some trees that might provide shade.

The best spot on the playground for shade is probably in the treehouse. Other shady spots include under the larger playground structure or in one of the tunnels on the playground.

There is a large beautiful gazebo, outside of the playground, between the playground and the parking lot, that can also provide a shady spot away from the sun.

There are large parking lots available. You can park in front of the municipal buildings in one of the lots or park in the library parking lot.
