3 Choices for Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge Summer Camps for Kids, Tweens, & Teens

Walk in the woods, dig in the dirt and wade in the water during the week-long summer day camps at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Daily activities include hands-on experiences and experiments, visits with native wildlife, games, arts and crafts and creative play. Perfect for the budding scientist or nature lover in your home.

 

1- Cedar Run Weekly Summer Camps

Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge Summer Camps in South Jersey

Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge offers 8 week-long summer camp sessions. These Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge Summer Camps run Monday-Friday from 9 am to noon or 9 am to 3 pm. Ages 3-4 and grades Kindergarten through First Grade can do half days 9 am to noon or full day 9 am to 3 pm. For all other ages, camp is 9 am to 3 pm. You can register your child for one or more weeks of nature camp. There are 8 weeks of camp available in all. 

Pricing for Cedar Run Weekly Summer Camps:

  • Early Bird Rates–Until April 15, 2018 only!
  • Half Day Camp– Members-$135 Non-Members $155
  • Full Day Camp– Members-$225, Non-Members $245
  • After Care: 3:00-4:00 PM (full day only)–$40/week

2 – Cedar Run Summer Day Camps

Discovery by the Day are summer day camp sessions at the beginning and end of summer for grades K-5th only from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM. Families can pay by the day to accommodate their scheduling needs. Activities will be planned so campers attending for just a few days won’t feel like they missed out! $55 per child, per day.

3 – Cedar Run Drop In Summer Day Camps

Cedar Run also provides a weekly “drop-in day camp” for the commitment-challenged campers. This classic day camp is chock full of camp activities including nature education, animal encounters, art, games and enjoying the outdoors.

  • This camp is available on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM to children in grades K-5th.
  • Pricing is $60/per child, per day. Add a camp shirt for $7.
  • Drop In Summer Camp Dates available for 2018:
    • 7/11 – Must register by the Friday July 6, 2018.
    • 7/18 – Must register by the Friday July 13, 2018.
    • 7/25 – Must register by the Friday July 20, 2018.
    • 8/1 – Must register by the Friday July 27, 2018.
    • 8/8 – Must register by the Friday August 3, 2018.

The Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge Summer Camps Weekly Session Dates and Themes

The Cedar Run Summer Camp themes are listed below. Each week has its own theme and age-appropriate camps. Sessions are based on the grade level of the camper in September 2018.

  • Week 1: June 25-29, 2018
    • Fledglings* (PK, ages 3-4) – Half-Day Camp – For these little ones, we begin to investigate the woods through games, hikes, animal encounters, crafts and song. Possibilities for fun are endless! Campers MUST be potty trained.

 

  • Week 2: July 2-6, 2018, girls only, no camp on July 4
    • Girls Go Wild about STEM (4th-8th) – Full-Day Camp – In this exclusive girls only camp we will engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and nature inspired activities and experiments. Nature exploration with modern technology opens the door for real-world applications and exciting adventures.

 

  • Week 3: July 9-13, 2018
    • Forest Frolic (2nd-3rd) – Full-Day Camp – Campers discover what it feels like to be animals surviving in the woods. They’ll look for the things that make the Refuge special. Flip over rocks and logs as we look for hidden wild treasures. Campers will be shocked by the exciting creatures we will find.
    • Awesome Adventurers (4th-5th) – Full-Day Camp – Are your campers ready for this adventure? With their team they will explore the Refuge and find themselves challenged to  survive” a week in the Pines. Campers will build a survival shelter in the woods, use a map and compass, go in search of the Jersey Devil and see some animals too!
    • Earth Avengers (6th-8th) – Full-Day Camp – Discover all you can about the different habitats and animals at Cedar Run. Explore un erground, high in the sky and everywhere in between. Campers will work to complete a special conservation project at the Refuge.

  • Week 4: July 16-20, 2018
    • Wild 4 Wildlife (4th-5th) – Full-Day Camp – Have you ever wondered what goes on in your own backyard when you are not looking? Campers will work together to discover who is living right under their noses and how people interact with them in their habitats. They will learn about our wildlife rehab and discover how they can to be ambassadors for the animals.
    • Earth Avengers (6th-8th) – Full-Day Camp – Discover all you can about the different habitats and animals at Cedar Run. Explore un erground, high in the sky and everywhere in between. Campers will work to complete a special conservation project at the Refuge.

 

  • Week 5: July 23-27, 2018
    • Polliwogs (K-1st) – Full-Day Camp – Here’s a way to open the eyes of young ones to the wonders of nature. Budding naturalists will enjoy nature-filled activities using all of their senses. They will explore the natural world around them through play, walks, stories, games and crafts.
    • Pond Paradise (2nd-3rd) – Full-Day Camp – What creatures lurk in the waters of Cedar Run? Campers will explore the puddles, ponds and swamps of the Refuge. We will follow a frog’s footsteps, find bug-eating plants and see what else awaits us. It will be a wild and wet week of mysterious creatures and water wonders.

 

  • Week 6: July 30-August 3, 2018
    • Polliwogs (K-1st) Full-Day Camp – Here’s a way to open the eyes of young ones to the wonders of nature. Budding naturalists will enjoy nature-filled activities using all of their senses. They will explore the natural world around them through play, walks, stories, games and crafts.

The Summer Camp runs from June 25 – August 24, 2018, with 8 one-week sessions, and other camp sessions as listed above. Register early to get the sessions you prefer.
