Weekends in Philly begins NOW!

Posted on: April 6th, 2012 by

Right now as I write this (Thursday morning) I hear the Cat in the Hat singing in my head “Here we go go go go on an adventure.” By the time you are reading this, we will be on one. Our Weekend in Philly series starts today and I am still trying to decide where we will visit first. There are so many great destinations in Philly to choose from. Some will be old favorites we’ll return to and others will be new to us. I’m feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety as I firm up our plans while still giving our extended weekend some flexibility to just wing it.

Have you ever felt that way?

Perhaps the marketing folks at the Independence Visitor Center read my mind. Check out this great video they sent me.

Top 10 Reasons to Start at the Independence Visitor Center

We’ll be spending the next 6 days in Philadelphia. Here are just some of the attractions we hope to explore. (In no particular order.)

  • Franklin Institute
  • Please Touch Museum
  • Independence Visitor Center
  • Historic Philadelphia Center
  • Betsy Ross House
  • Liberty 360
  • Stenton Garden
  • Philadelphia Zoo
  • Academy of Natural Sciences
  • National Constitution Center
  • Longwood Gardens

We’re delighted to be staying with the following hotels and sharing with you their special programs to make families feel welcome.

Lastly, we know that one of our meals will be enjoyed at the fabulous Dave and Busters at Penns Landing.

A special thanks to Visit Philly and these locations that are accommodating Jersey Family Fun and making it possible for us to share with you how fun Weekends in Philly can be. You can follow our adventures over the next few days on Twitter @Jerseyfamilyfun and/or #WeekendsinPhilly and on our Facebook page.

Jennifer Auer is the hyperlocal mom blogger who runs Jersey Family Fun. From New Jersey, this mom of 3 boys just can’t sit still! Her husband likes to say she’s a work-at-home mom who never stays home. Jennifer started traveling as a child and hasn’t stopped since. Instead of letting her husband and boys slow her down, she brings them along! Did you know that boys behave better when they are out exploring? As her boys start to become teens there’s still so many places she wants to discover with them both across the U.S. and internationally. She has been a Jersey Girl for 20+ years, and a Jersey Mom for 8+ years and a New Jersey mom blogger for 7 years, although she'd much rather be referred to as an influencer or just by name. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Entrepreneurship from Bryant University in Rhode Island.
