The Waltman Park Playground in Millville New Jersey was truly an accidental discovery. We were sure there was a playground at Joe Buck Park. We searched and could not find it. Then, I went down a little path, under an archway, and stumbled upon this Millville playground instead.

Where is Waltman Park Playground located?
Waltman Park is located on City Park Drive in Millville in Cumberland County. The park is part of the Millville park system.
You can also access this playground by foot through Joseph Buck Park, off of Pine Street. We were actually looking for that park when we found this playground.
What kind of playground equipment does the Waltman Park Playground have?
There are two playground structures for visiting children. Both structures have slides. One structure appears newer. It’s more colorful and modern. The other structure is tan and green.
This playground has a lot of land. There are several different climbing structures and plenty of space to run around and play.
Are there swings?
There are two swing structures. One swing structure has 3 traditional swings. The other structure has 2 baby swings.
Are there slides?
The newer structure has 2 straight slides. The older structure has 6 slides. Two of those slides are tunnel slides and one twists. It has a side-by-side slide too.
What special features does the playground offer?
Monkey bars, climbing platforms and ladders, tunnels, some sensory play areas and games, and more.
When Kathy visited in 2016, her son’s favorite thing at the playground is a zip line that he could swing on. This is one of the few playgrounds we’ve seen with a zip line. The space for the zip line was still there on June 1, 2022, but we did not see anything to use to zip on the line.
What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
There is a mixture of ground surfaces here: grass, mulch, and blue and black rubber padding.
Is the playground at Waltman Park Playground accessible?
The playground has limited accessibility. There is a ramp onto the equipment, but there are not many options to do on the equipment. There are a few sensory play areas and games available on the ground level of the playground. There are no accessible swings.
Is there shade available at the Waltman Park Playground?
The older playground structure has some rooftops that can provide some shade from the sun. The newer structure doesn’t have many spaces for shade. There are some park benches underneath a tree.
Where is parking for the Waltman Park Playground?
A small parking lot was available.
Are there restrooms at Waltman Park Playground?
We could not locate any restrooms on our June 1, 2022 visit.
What else is there to do at Waltman Park Playground?
In addition to the playground at Waltman Park Playground, there are additional amenities available for visitors.
Are there walking trails?
There is a walking path along the river, as part of the Joe Buck Park and Glasstown River Renaissance, plus a large pedestrian bridge that crosses to the other side of the river. It’s always nice to have the option to take a walk before or after playing.
Are there fields or courts for sports?
We did not see any courts or fields. The town website lists that there is a basketball court and a Bocce Court. We could not locate either.

You missed 1/2 the park!… there is indeed a bocce court, basketball court tennis courts and a street hockey court. There’s also a whole other playground area by the Route 49 entrance. As far as the walking trail goes, it runs from behind the ball fields on Sharp Street, along the river past the park to behind the old glass factory on South Second/47. I think you need to revisit Waltman Park.

That's great to hear. Can you tell us more about how to get to those parts of the park? We came in through the archway and not the main road. All we could see was the playground and the ramp to the pedestrian bridge. - Jenn
