We originally wrote about this playground in 2015. Now we present you new updated information in a new format based on our June 2022 visit.
Where is Walter’s Park Playground located?
Walter’s Park is located at 1 Meyner Road in Phillipsburg in Warren County. The park is part of the Phillipsburg park system.
What kind of playground equipment does the Walter’s Park Playground have?
There are two main playground structures at Walter’s Park. There is a smaller set of toddler playground equipment and a larger playground structure for older kids. There are swings, slides, and monkey bars.
Are there swings?
There are two swing structures. One swing structure has 2 baby swings and 2 traditional swings. The other swing set has 4 traditional swings.
Are there slides?
There are lots of slides! The toddler playground equipment has three slides. The larger structure has 6 slides. All of those are open slides and 3 slides twist as they make their way to the bottom.
What special features does the playground offer?
The monkey bars are in the classic shape of a dome-like some of us might remember from our playground days. There is also a rock-climbing wall, tunnels, theater area, and other areas for play.
What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
The ground cover under the equipment is wood mulch.
Is the playground at Walter’s Park Playground accessible?
The playground is not accessible. There are no ramps onto equipment, sensory play areas, or accessible swings.
Is there shade available at the Walter’s Park Playground?
There is some shade under the canopy tops of the older kids equipment. Shade is also available under the pavilions.
Where is parking for the Walter’s Park Playground?
There are some parking lots along the main road that loops through the park.
Are there restrooms at Walter’s Park Playground?
There was a port-a-potty between the playground area and the sports field. Off in the distance, there was a small building with restrooms. It was not visible from the playground area.
What else is there to do at Walter’s Park Playground?
In addition to the playground at Walter’s Park Playground, there are additional amenities available for visitors: walking trails, sports fields, an amphitheater, open grassy areas, and outdoor fitness equipment.
Are there walking trails?
Yes, there were walking paths that are also suitable for biking.
Are there fields or courts for sports?
From the playgrounds, you can see a soccer field. Just past those fields, we also found tennis courts and a basketball court. There is a baseball field as well.

Visiting kids love the hills at Walter’s Park in Phillipsburg. Kids love running up them and rolling down. Some of the hills can provide quite a challenge due to their height. If your kids don’t get worn out from the playgrounds rolling down the hill can be another good way to burn off energy.
