10 Things to Do at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World

Disney just announced the opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and we couldn’t be more excited! My husband and I grew up on the Star Wars movies and we’ve passed that love onto our children. So to say we’re excited would probably be an understatement. We are ecstatic!

We’ve been wanting to plan another Disney World vacation and the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Star Wars activities it will offer are just more motivation to get planning. Starting August 29, 2019, guests will be able to travel to A Galaxy Far, Far Away when they visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. Whether you’re a legendary Jedi or a young Padawan, this land is truly going to be extraordinary for everyone. Luckily, I’ve teamed up with my friends at Get Away Today to detail 10 things to do at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney World

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open May 31, 2019, at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and Aug. 29, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. At 14 acres each, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be Disney’s largest single-themed land expansions ever, transporting guests to live their own Star Wars adventures in Black Spire Outpost, a village on the remote planet of Batuu, full of unique sights, sounds, smells and tastes. Guests can become part of the story as they sample galactic food and beverages, explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run

At Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, guests will get the opportunity to board the fastest ship in the galaxy! You and five others will be able to choose between roles like pilot, gunner and engineer as you team up with Chewbacca and Hando Onaka to complete your mission. Depending on how well (or poorly) you do, there will either be congratulations in order or a bounty on your head. This high-speed adventure is sure to be enjoyable for the entire family.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

While we know that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance won’t be open for the initial debut (opening later in 2019), we can’t wait to see what Disney has come up with for this attraction. Here, you’ll be able to team up with the Resistance on a secret mission to infiltrate the First Order. Disney has been mostly quiet about the story for this attraction, however, we do know that guests will have run-ins with stormtroopers, Kylo Ren and more. With never before seen technology and advanced animatronics, this attraction is truly going to be out of this world.

Oga’s Cantina

Oga’s Cantina is known to be a safe haven for intergalactic bandits, so you’ll naturally be able to chat and meet some of the galaxy’s most wanted smugglers. In addition to the lively atmosphere, guests will also have the opportunity to choose from a variety of unique concoctions that both adults and kids will enjoy. These drinks will feature exotic ingredients, served in quirky vessels. Plus, you’ll also be able to run into RX-24, the former StarSpeeder 3000 pilot from Star Tours as he serves as the Cantina DJ.

Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers

If you’ve ever wanted a legendary lightsaber of your own, now is your chance to get one! At Savi’s Workshop, guests will be able to customize their own one-of-a-kind lightsaber. Under the guidance of a rebel group called the “Gatherers,” you’ll be able to use the power of a kyber crystal and create your lightsaber from themes like Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature and Protection and Defense. Because Disney has revealed that Savi’s Workshop is going to blur the lines between what is an attraction and a merchandise experience, we expect Savi’s Workshop to be more expensive than most shops in Black Spire Outpost. So, now is the time to start saving up your Imperial credits!

Milk Stand

At last, longtime fans of the Star Wars franchise will finally be able to taste the galaxy’s most infamous drink – blue milk! At the Milk Stand, guests will be able to choose between blue and green milk, a local favorite for residents of Battu. While the drink has the title of milk, this beverage will actually serve as a frozen treat that has fruity flavors.

With the Play Disney Parks app, you’ll be able to create a galactic profile where you can translate galactic languages, complete tasks and even decipher messages from the first order. With each mission or task that you complete, you’ll be able to earn intergalactic credits. While we’re not sure what you can do with intergalactic credits or what your profile can do, we can’t wait to use the Play Disney Parks app when visiting Battu.

Disney World Star Wars Galaxy Edge Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature rare items from across the galaxy for sale, all part of Dok-Ondar’s collection. Items will represent different eras of the Star Wars galaxy, including holocrons, ancient Jedi and Sith artifacts, lightsabers and more. Star Wars: GalaxyÕs Edge will open May 31, 2019, at Disneyland Resort in California and Aug. 29, 2019, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. (Disney Parks)
