Buddies Are Back – Spooky Buddies on Disney Video

Can the adorable puppy Buddies save the world from Warwick the Warlock and the Howlloween Hound?

About the Spooky Buddies movie

In a race against the Howlloween Hound, the Buddies and their new friends, Pip, Zelda, Rodney and Skip must stop Warlock the Magician – and save the world from his dastardly deeds.

It’s October so that means it’s time for SCARY MOVIES!  First up for us, through Netflix, is Disney’s Spooky Buddies.

We’re somewhat new to Netflix in our house, and my children found their way to the Disney Buddies movies.  If you didn’t know, Air Bud had some puppies who are just as verbal and adorable as he was!  The five Buddies have made seven movies!  We can’t choose just one favorite, but this time of year we we choose Spooky Buddies!

Seventy five years ago, the town of Fernfield was in danger from a warlock who tried desperately to unleash the creatures of the underworld.    The Howlloween Hound needed the souls of five dogs of the same blood, and Warwick the Warlock had five beagle puppies ready to go.  His efforts were thwarted by the bloodhound Deputy Tracker and the citizens of the town and his big old house was condemned.   In the melee, little boy Joseph’s beagle Pip turns to stone.  Of course, the warlock wasn’t gone for good!

Cut to current day, and a group of children are on a tour of spooky spots of the town, and they stop at that big spooky house.  The Buddies find their way inside and the hound and warlock are released!   Along with Pip, who is now a ghost, the Buddies are on a mission to stop their efforts.   It’s not easy to contain a warlock on Halloween night, as he blends in rather well!  Adults at a Halloween party enjoy his scariness, and later are turned into zombies.   As the Buddies receive help from a clairvoyant chihuahua named Zelda to stop the Howlloween Hound, the 5 children receive help from now old man Joseph to stop Warwick.  There are some scary moments, and one particularly uncouth one from Budderball, but in the end, good wins over evil.   If you and your family are in the mood for a little scary and a little cute, this could be the one for you!

  • You can’t resist the cuteness of those puppies!  If you haven’t gotten to know Rosebud, Buddha, Mudbud, B-Dawg, and Budderball you will love them after this!
  • Spooky Buddies gets you in the Halloween spirit.  It’s a bit scary so it’s probably best for school age children.
  • The quality of the movie is what you’d expect from Disney.  The puppies truly look like they’re talking, and if golden retrievers aren’t your favorite, there are other breeds in the movie that are just as charming!
  • Spooky Buddies runs just under 90 minutes.

Rent the Spooky Buddies movie with the kids, and get yourself ready for the Halloween season!
