Every once in a while I get a press release that stops me in my tracks. Yesterday, was such a day. When I got news about updates and expanded attractions and activities at Six Flags Great Adventure Hurricane Harbor NJ, I knew I just had to stop what I was doing and tell you all about them.

I haven’t been this excited about Hurricane Harbor NJ since the opening of Calypso Springs, Six Flags Great Adventure Gets a New Pool at Hurricane Harbor in 2019. I gotta tell you these new activities have me already thinking about how soon can I get to Hurricane Harbor.

Six Flags Great Adventure just announced that Six Flags Great Adventure Hurricane Harbor NJ will open for 2023 on May 20, 2023, and operate daily beginning June 17, 2023 weather permitting.

In what promises to make your family visit to Hurricane Harbor a delightful experience, the expansion features new slides and an all-new interactive splash play area perfect for young children and toddlers.

With exciting interactions, a playful sea creature beach theme, and vibrant colorful slides; children will have more to do at Hurricane Harbor New Jersey than ever before.

New Hurricane Harbor NJ Attractions: Splash Island

Little kids to Splash Island will delight in the brand-new tree house water play structure. With more than 50 play features, young families will love the mini slides and curtain waterfalls.

No water park treehouse is complete without a gigantic water bucket perched high above just waiting and filling up to soak the splash-seekers below. Get ready to splish and splash and get drenched under that bucket.

Splash Island is for children under 42″ tall. Discovery Bay will still be available for children 42″ to 54″ tall.

New Hurricane Harbor NJ Attractions: Brand New Water Slides

As if these new enhancements to Hurricane Harbor there will be 7 SEVEN brand new slides at this NJ water park. These new colorful water park slides were designed with little kids in mind. They are for smaller riders.

The new water slides with names Cowabunga, Jellyfish Twist (two slides), RipCurl, Shark Attack, Splashin’ Seal, and Stingray Racer bring thrills, drops, and twists for little ones seeking a gentle thrill.

When will the new attractions at Hurricane Harbor open?

When Hurricane Harbor opens for the season on May 20, 2023, the new attractions will not be open yet. The opening date is TBD (to be determined.) As soon as we know you’ll know.

Where will the new attractions at Hurricane Harbor be located?

View the Hurricane Harbor map from last summer. The Caribbean Cove and Matt Racer Beach Area will be home to the new water slides and Splash Island.

The Matt Racer Beach Area will be moved to a different area. The Caribbean Cove will be removed.

What else is changing?

At this point, we don’t have any details about anything else changing. All your other favorite Hurricane Harbor attractions, including Calypso Springs, are expected to remain the same.

For the available dates listed so far, the park opens at 10:30 am. Closing time varies between 5 – 6 pm.

In May the park is open on weekends. In June the park is open weekends only until June 18, 2023, at that time the park is open daily from 10:30 am until 6 pm. As of March 1, 2023, the park hours are not listed beyond August 4, 2023.
