What kind of playground equipment does the Scotland Run Park Playground have?

Scotland Run Lake has a castle-like playground. The playground has been renovated since our earlier 2015 visit. While it still can look like a castle. It’s much different than it was back then as you can see from our newer May 2022 visit.

The playground is a lot of fun for the kids. Kids like the easy-to-slide lower slides.

Are there swings?

There are 2 baby swings and 4 regular swings at the playground. Two inclusive swings are also included.

Are there slides?

There are 2 slides on the toddler and preschool playground equipment and 4 regular slides and a tunnel slide on the older kids’ playground.

What special features does the playground offer?

The toddler and preschool playground has some drums on the side of the playground. The older kids’ playground has a tunnel slide on it.

What kind of ground cover does the playground have?

The ground is covered by wood mulch.

Is the playground at Scotland Run Park Playground accessible?

The older children’s playground is accessible. There is a short path to the playground from the nearby parking lot and there are ramps. The Cruiser can accommodate a wheelchair and there are two inclusive swings.

Is there shade available at the Scotland Run Park Playground? 

There is a shaded area that has seating underneath it. There are also some large trees nearby.

We do not believe there are any fields or courts at Scotland Run Park.

The beach next to Wilson Lake is also a relaxing place to sit and eat a nice picnic lunch near the water as you look at the geese or turtles nearby.

Bonus information we want you to know about Scotland Run Park Playground 

As we mentioned the playground is near the beach area next to Wilson Lake. There is a shaded seating area, picnic benches, and restrooms nearby as well.

There were boats all along the lake. The lake you aren’t allowed to swim in or play in however you could go fishing with your children. There are no lifeguards present so I advise using your own parental caution before going out in the lake. There are also no life vests so you would have to bring your own.

There is a nature center across the street from the playground. It is open from 1 pm to 4 pm on Thursday and Friday and from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday. It holds lots of interesting live animals for kids to see and it is accessible.

There are hiking trails behind the nature center as well through the woods.

There are free canoe and kayak rentals on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 3 pm from June 18th to September 4th at the beach area nearby. More information can be found on this Google file and waivers must be signed beforehand.
