Roosevelt Park – Middlesex County Parks & Playgrounds
3 Reasons my Family Loves Roosevelt Park
(for the official park site click here.)
- This is a an expansive park (217 acres!) with three playground areas, multiple picnic areas, basketball courts, an outdoor ice rink and lots of wooded space. There’s plenty of opportunity to be active here, in lots of different ways! There are walkways as well as roadways, and a picturesque lake to stroll around. You can truly spend a day here and not run out of activities, or you can add it on as a quick pitstop after a day of shopping at bordering Menlo Park Mall.
- Roosevelt Park offers some history too! Look closely at the Middlesex County Veteran’s Memorial, and the nearby fountain “Light Dispelling Darkness.” You’ll be surprised to find such impressive works of public art so close to busy Route 1.
- Roosevelt Park is not only home to ice skating, fishing, and the usual park activities; it also hosts the summer long theater series “Plays in the Park.” A Middlesex County institution for 52 years, Plays in the Park runs all summer long, and offers a fall show as well. It’s definitely a Middlesex County bucket list activity!
