Every once in a while I like to take my boys out individually on a “Date with Mommy”. They really enjoy it and the memory leaves them beaming for days.
Earlier yesterday, I read about Tropicana Hotel and Casino starting their Holiday Spectacular with the tree lighting ceremony at 1:30 pm. Pictures with Santa were to follow. I so wanted to take my boys but the timing did not work well with the school day.
But last night my oldest and I went. The Quarter, where the Christmas Tree, is located was easy enough to find. Once you come in from the parking garage and take the elevators to the Casino floor, the tree is right there. We never even saw the casino.
The tree was magical and gorgeous. It wasn’t long before the snow started falling. This was the main reason for bringing my date there.
What kid wouldn’t enjoy an indoor snowfall? The snow drifted down leaving a light coating of white on the visitors but not so heavy that it was slippery or messy. Looking around everyone was all smiles to have a few moments to walk in the snow. It was cute seeing the young couples get just as giddy as my son. In the setting of the Quarter it was very picturesque.
Since it was just about 7 pm, we also witnessed the Holiday Musical Light Show. Lights flickered and glistened, their actions set to a wonderful collection of holiday music. You couldn’t help but enjoy the show.
The shows and decor are open to the public every day. The snow show repeats every 15 minutes from noon – 10 pm/midnight (depending on the day). The light show plays every hour on the hour from noon – 10 pm/midnight (again depends on the day.) There is no charge for admission. (It’s $5 if you chose to park in the garage.) And you do not need to worry about taking your children across the casino floor. If you come in from the Quarter’s entrance or the parking garage you will bypass all of that.
If you’re a local to the area or making a trip here, grab your camera and bring your children. You won’t be disappointed.
