The first time we discovered Overpeck County Park Playground in Leonia New Jersey it was an accidental discovery. We had just left Field Station Dinosaurs and drove by the entrance of Overpeck County Park. It’s super close by. We had been in the habit, even then, of stopping for playgrounds, and I wanted to explore this park to see if they had one.
This playground was/is fabulous! My kids had a super fun time playing and climbing the webs. So as I started to plan out which New Jersey playgrounds we were going to include in our 100 New Jersey playgrounds in 100 days challenge, I knew we needed to include this one. It definitely makes the list of playgrounds worth driving across New Jersey for.

Great work here. This is our favorite park since it opened. The bathrooms are 100 yards away, are very modern and clean, and are open during park hours. In the summer, the same structure sells burgers and hot dogs.
The ground is not wood mulch but that fine recycled rubber material, so it’s nice and spongy when you fall. There is a 3-5 section for younger kids and the larger 6-15? Section for older kids.
