Originally written in 2016, we’ve revisited the park to update this for 2022. The playground has been completely renovated with new playground equipment for toddlers, preschoolers, and big kids.

Ocean City 8th Street Playground is located in Ocean City in Cape May County at 8th and Haven Avenue. The park is part of the Ocean City park system.
What kind of playground equipment does the Ocean City 8th Street Playground have?
This playground will make you say wow. There is so much for kids to explore and a ton of open space for them to run back and forth. They won’t bore easily. The park has 2 small sections, one for older children and one for younger children, and other little ways to have fun around the park. Like most playgrounds, it does have swings and slides.
Are there swings?
This park includes 2 baby swings and 2 accessible swings that could be easily used by anyone. There are no traditional swings included in this park.
Are there slides?
In this park, there are a total of 8 slides. In the older kids section of the park, there are 4 large slides; 3 side-by-side slides, with one going straight and 2 going in curvy directions. There is also another curvy slide toward the back of the older kid section. In the toddler and preschoolers section, there are 2 small and straight slides, and one double side-by-side slide.
What special features does the playground offer?
The playground has a high back spinner, monkey bars, a tower to climb up, a bridge at the top to cross, metal bars that make music when touched, and you can download an app called Biba, and play games throughout the park using images inside of the park.
The park also includes 2 springy surfboards to stand on, and a springing bumblebee to sit on.
With multiple areas to climb, slides, and more kids of all ages will certainly tire themselves out. Areas are designated for the toddlers so they don’t try something they aren’t ready for.
What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
The ground cover is rubber padding.
Is the Ocean City 8th Street Playground accessible?
There are two accessible swings, but there is no ramp onto the playground equipment.

The park doesn’t offer much shade. The playground is open to the sun. Kids can play underneath some of the playground structures for shade. There are some benches that are blocked by trees for some additional shade.
