Our Family’s Experience at the Morris Tap and Grill

In full disclosure, we were given a meal for 4 in order to make this review possible. We appreciate Morris Tap & Grill’s support of Jersey Family Fun and our efforts to tell New Jersey families about family friendly restaurants. As usual, all opinions are our own.

It’s easy to get into a rut when eating out with the family. Who doesn’t like spicy food, who isn’t in the mood for meat, who wants a very particular macaroni and cheese.  Sometimes it feels easier to heat up chicken nuggets at home and call it a day.

After a recent day out in Morris County, we were far from home and ready to eat. The adults had put a ban on fast food and wanted a place that would give us some tasty, high quality food. But with the picky children we have, there HAS to be a kids menu. Morris Tap & Grill fit all those requirements and while we hadn’t been there, we’d heard good things. Off to Route 10 in Randolph for a meal at the family friendly restaurant!

The restaurant is easy to find on Route 10, and has a large and easily accessible parking lot. There’s a hostess at the ready to greet you when you enter, and the atmosphere is inviting and warm. The bar at Morris Tap & Grill is popular, but it doesn’t take away from the restaurant being appropriate for families. We were seated in the main dining room (tables and booths available) and immediately began the difficult decision of what to eat! We aren’t the most adventurous eaters so it was a Southwest Burger and BBQ Brisket Sandwich for us, but if you want something different, look no further. The menu offers a Spicy Duck Quesadilla, Aloo Gobi, and Braised Pork Belly to name a few.

My kids were thrilled with the kids menu. It offered their favorites, and each one chose something different. We dined on a Sunday, but it’s important to note that KIDS EAT FREE Monday – Friday! The adults started with a buffalo chicken bacon dip and chips with aioli were also brought to our table, so we were able to start to fill bellies before the main course arrived. We didn’t have to wait long though. Our main courses were served quickly and we were wowed! The sandwiches were simply overstuffed and overflowing. The Boardwalk Fries, served with all the selections we ordered were thick and the Organic Chicken Fingers offered a different texture that they loved. And bonus – ORGANIC.

The staff that assisted us was attentive and so knowledgeable. We ordered a beer flight and Christine picked the selections perfectly. My son has a peanut allergy and she made note of it so we felt confident there would be no problems (and there weren’t). All our meals were correct and served QUICK. We know how important that can be with hungry kids! A bottle of water was brought to our table, and since that’s what we all drink primarily, we went through it quickly. It was kept filled throughout our meal without our needing to ask. Chef Eric Levine took a trip out to the dining room and spent time talking to us as well as the other tables. We felt very welcomed and appreciated at Morris Tap & Grill, but the meal was also well paced. Never did we feel like we were waiting too long for the next course which is so important when there are little ones.

Also important is DESSERT. What’s a meal without a little sweetness at the end? Morris Tap & Grill does not disappoint there! A large wheeled cart comes out when it’s time and just TRY to pick one. The Oreo Mousse was a given for us but I was in the mood for gelato and had trouble choosing a flavor! I settled with caramel and when it came out in a waffle bowl – yum!

Treat your family to a night out at a place where kids can get their favorites, you can try something new, and the whole family can feel comfortable and welcomed. And to remind you – KIDS EAT FREE WEEKDAYS! Close up your kitchen and get your family to Morris Tap & Grill soon!

We would say it's a hit!
