Another Jersey Family Fun mom first visited this playground in 2013, I revisited it earlier this month (July 1, 2022) to update our review with more pictures and updated details.
Where is Modick Park Playground located?
The address is Lakeside Boulevard in Hopatcong, Sussex County, New Jersey, though the town website lists the address as Hopatchung Road. The park is part of the Hopatcong park system.
What kind of playground equipment does Modick Park have?
This playground offers play areas for all ages! Modick Park offers 3 playground areas so the whole family can enjoy a day out.
The area designated for little ones is fenced in which is great for children who love to run EVERYWHERE! From the looks of other pictures and videos, this toddler playground was updated with all new equipment sometime between 2020 and 2022. Gone is the wooden structure. In its place is a preschool tower and a large climbing structure.
The playground for older children was installed around 2013 and still remains. it offers fun for kids ages 5+ (although some younger children can play with careful supervision as the slides are very steep).
Are there swings?
In the area with the green, older kids playground, there are 6 traditional swings and 2 accessible swings.
In the gated in blue playground area, there are two baby swings.
Are there slides?
There are multiple slides at this Hopatcong playground. At the submarine playground there is a side-by-side slide.
On the blue playground tower for preschoolers and toddlers, there is a blue side-by-side slide.
The large green playground offers the most slides. It has 2 twisting slides, a side-by-side slide, and 3 straight slides.
What special features does the playground offer?
Special features include climbing ladders, tunnels, spinners, sensory play, and monkey bars.
There is also a 4-person see saw.
Last but not least is this adorable submarine playground. It maybe the orginal one from years ago, but it did look well maintained.
What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
The ground cover is wood mulch.
Is the playground at Modick Park accessible?
There are 2 accessible swings. While there is no ramp onto any of the playground equipment there is some ground level play that may be accessible.
Is there shade available at the Modick Park Playground?
There are shady areas in tunnels and under the equipment and picnic tables under the trees.
Across the street there is a pavilion that overlooks a pond.
Where is parking for the Modick Park Playground?
There is a small parking lot on the street between Modick Park and Maxim Glen Park.
Are there restrooms at Modick Park?
There are port-a-potties near the 4 person see saw.

Across the street at Maxim Glen Park is a beautiful walking path that is great for exercising, taking a leisurely walk and pushing strollers. Four times around is equivalent to one mile.

This park has 2 full size basketball courts and open grassy areas.
