The Avenue restaurant, a Long Branch Restaurant
The Avenue restaurant is an upscale dining option in Long Branch, New Jersey, for families and couples visiting the Jersey Shore. The Avenue hosted us for a dinner as part of our Family Travel to the Jersey Shore series.
I have to be honest, when I first heard we were invited to the Avenue restaurant for dinner, I was nervous. With menu options like Seared Spanish Octopus or Boeuf Bourguignon, would my kids find anything they like to eat? Would my kids be able to behave in a nicer restaurant, especially since my husband wasn’t able to join us? Would their behavior draw stares? Would I have anything they could wear?
As is often the case, I should not have worried.
Avenue Restaurant Dresscode
When I asked about the dresscode, we learned it was business casual, but what does that mean for kids? I dressed my 3 boys in nice khakis and button down shirts (score for taking advantage of a last minute sale at Old Navy), I wore a sweater dress. My boys looked great and were not out of place at all.
Avenue Restaurant Menu
The Avenue restaurant menu (available online) includes entrees such as Scottish Trout and Steak Frites. I have to admit I’m not much of a risk taker when it comes to food. I wasn’t adventurous enough to try octopus, but I did order the Berks County Chicken. OMG! It was delicious and so filling!
The Avenue restaurant kids menu is not available online. I have included it as an image below. All 3 boys ordered the French Toast. I can’t say I blame them, what kid wouldn’t want French toast for dinner? When it came out it was soft and moist, as I cut up my 8 year old’s food for him.
Welcoming Children to the Avenue restaurant
At the Avenue I never felt out of place with my children. There was never a sense we shouldn’t be out as a family. When we first sat down my boys were given Wikki Stix to keep their hands busy. We balanced out any waiting time between courses with Wikki Stix play, 3DS time, and family talks. Two spilled glasses of water and the wait staff was still as courteous as when we first sat down to our table.
Avenue restaurant desserts
The Avenue restaurant dessert options did not disappoint. They all sounded delicious. I went with a Crème Brulee, one of my new favorite desserts. My boys ordered ice cream sundaes. My 8 year old was especially thrilled that the Avenue offered strawberry ice cream.
Think you can’t eat at a nice restaurant with your kids? Think again, and consider Avenue restaurant. Not only was the Avenue a great Long Branch restaurant, but its great atmosphere and kid friendly options make it a must visit family restaurant at the Jersey Shore!
