5 Things to Do at Johnson Locust Hall Farm with Kids This Fall

In full disclosure, this is a sponsored post. We appreciate Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm’s support of Jersey Family Fun and our efforts to share local activities with our readers. As always all opinions are our own.

The air is crisp, the temperatures have dropped and the leaves are falling!

It’s time to enjoy these Johnson Locust Hall Farm fall activities.

Johnson's Locust Hall Farm in Jobstown offers field and fields of sunflowers

In our house it’s not October until we’ve picked an apple (or 70) or eaten “a few” apple cider donuts. Sure, you can get them at your local grocery store but memories aren’t made in the produce aisle. Not to mention that obligatory family photo in the corn maze! This year, why not head to Johnson Locust Hall Farm in Jobstown where you can get your apples, your pumpkins, and your photo but so much more! You can visit their website with this link. The property has been owned by the Johnson family since 2013 but its history dates back to 1693!

5 Things to Do at Johnson Locust Hall Farm with Kids This Fall

Growing up in central New Jersey we always headed to an orchard for fresh apples but that was it. There wasn’t anything else fun going on there, not even the now standard apple cider donuts. The first thing to do is get those yummy donuts and many other delicacies! There’s the sticky but irresistible pecan pies on the menu that’s a Johnson’s family tradition. Come hungry and leave full.

Maybe you’d rather make your own apple confections and you’re just there to pick the best apples around? That’s available too, of course. Be ready to load up your car for apples for days! You can pick 7 types of apples! Varieties and supply will vary so check their Facebook page before heading out.

We didn’t have apple cider donuts back in my younger days of apple picking and we certainly didn’t have corn mazes! Now completing a corn maze is one of our family’s fall to-do’s! The Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm corn maze is 10 acres of fun. Don’t miss out – the maze is open Friday-Monday throughout October.

Johnson's Locust Hall Farm hayrides are $4.50/person.

Looking for a more unique growing field? What about getting lost in a 15 acre field containing 15 varieties of sunflowers? This South Jersey farm offers guests beautiful sunflowers. Your photos will be stunning and you’ll be amazed at the height at which these beauties grow. There’s a pick your own option too, so you can bring some of that sunshine back home with you. As the month progresses please call the farm directly at 609-353-9000 for the availability of sunflowers.

A trip to the farm means animals too, and Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm has them! The Animal Farm and Play Area houses sheep, goats and chickens for petting, but that’s not all. Take a break for the little ones to get their energy out as they climb around or play in the sand box! Your crew will go home happy AND exhausted from a day at the farm!

There’s so much to experience at the farm that it was hard to stop at 5 Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm fall activities. You may need to visit more than once! They are open Friday-Monday, with special Fall Harvest Weekends. The Farmhouse Grill & Live Music is offered each and every weekend at the farm from 11 am to 3pm. From Johnson’s Own Pasture Raised Beef Burgers to Hot Dogs and more there is something for everyone in the entire family to enjoy. Grab a picnic table near the live music bandstand for a lazy lunch with the kids. Follow it up with a Cider Biter from the Ice Cream Stand to satisfy the sweet tooth. What’s a Cider Biter you ask? It’s a yummy Hot Apple Cider Donut filled with soft serve ice cream. Do not miss this goodness!
