Edible Reindeer Craft

‘Tis the Season for Giving!

We love spreading cheer this time of year. My children get in the holiday spirit by making gifts for their friends in school. I love that they want to give and be generous, but that can be tricky when you’re on a budget, and there are so many gifts to give. This year we came up with the perfect craft for them to make for their friends – cookie boxes disguised as Rudolph the reindeer! It’s a great edible reindeer craft that can double as an inexpensive gift. Easy to make, delicious, AND affordable.

Who wouldn’t like a sweet treat with a handmade spin?

I always see these cookie boxes at our local big box store and drugstores. Easy to find! With varieties you love like OREO cookies, Nutter Butter, and Chips Ahoy!, everyone will have their favorite. Trying to stay away from the sweet? RITZ crackers are also sold in these convenient boxes. Get ready for some Christmas magic- these cookie boxes turn into the cutest edible reindeer craft you will ever see.

We chose Double Stuf OREOS to use for my daughter’s friends because they’re her favorite. With a low cost per box there was no sticker shock at the register! Once we took our boxes home, we were excited to get started on our Double Stuf OREOS edible reindeer craft.

Edible Reindeer Craft

You only need a few supplies to make the cutest edible reindeer craft gifts!

Here’s how we created this simple and inexpensive edible reindeer craft:

  1. Cut any brown paper bag down the seams and wrap up the Double Stuf OREO cookie box like a gift.
  2. Glue on googly eyes (or draw them on with marker) and add on a red puff ball nose.
  3. Draw on a smiling mouth.
  4. Cut and glue on antlers. (We used brown bag scraps and cut them to fit. Pipe cleaners would also be great!)
  5. Write recipient’s name (and a holiday message if desired!) on box.

The finished product!

My daughter is so excited to share these Double Stuf OREO gifts with her classmates. She’s so proud that she was able to make them a gift and I’m thrilled that they didn’t break the bank. I also enjoyed that we were able to spend some time together making these crafts. Spending time together as a family is the most important and I love that she’s learning the lesson that it’s more important to give than to receive. That’s what the holidays are all about!

These snack size cookie and cracker boxes also make the perfect teacher gifts – don’t forget teacher aides, school nurse, bus drivers – the list goes on. And just imagine how cute Rudolph would look with his little reindeer face poking out of a stocking on Christmas morning?!

What can YOU make out of a cookie box?
