Harrah’s Resort and Casino, probably not exactly what you think when you think of family-friendly hotels in Atlantic City. But let me explain….

One of my goals with Jersey Family Fun is to connect families with family-friendly hotels across our area. I mean isn’t that one of the biggest challenges we face when we travel? Where can we stay with our kids that will not just accept that we’ve brought our kids but will be welcoming to our kids? Where will the rooms be safe and not just pretty? Will there be things to do beyond just watching the hotel tv? Can we enjoy ourselves without feeling like our kids have to be on their best behavior?

So in preparing for our first family blogging event, Bloggers at the Beach in Atlantic City. Karen Hudson Sweitzer, A Magical Mommy and I set out to find a family-friendly hotel in Atlantic City. Could it be done? Was it possible in a town that mostly seems to cater to adults and gambling?

We did do it!! We discovered Harrah’s Resort and Casino. Yes, a very beautiful upscale resort great for the singletons and couples. But also very accommodating to families. Let me tell you how.

  • Large, spacious, rooms – Each room has two  king size beds. Mom and dad get their own and 2 or 3 kids can share the other bed.  Plus, a nice seating area for snack time and down time. Rooms with 2 double beds start at $129 per night.

  • Beautiful, huge, bathroom with privacy taken into consideration.– The shower was large enough that you could probably wash your whole family down at once. There was a bench, great for moms who need to sit and shave before pool/beach time, but also great for kids who don’t want to be directly in the water’s path. Plus, the toilet has its own door ensuring privacy for whoever needs to go potty.

  • Pack ‘N’ Plays, portable cribs – Just check with the front desk and they will help get your family what it needs for a comfortable, hassle-free stay.

  • Easy, family-friendly dining and snack options – On the main floor of Harrah’s Resort and Casino there is a pizzeria, sub shop, pretzel shop, ice cream store and other family-friendly eateries with affordable pricing options.

  • Harrah’s Family Fun Center – There is so much for Harrah’s hotel guests to do at the Harrah’s Family Fun Center, we could write a whole separate post, but we’ll give you the highlights. The hours vary with the season but the Family Fun Center usually closes by 7 or 8 pm, while the game room maybe open later.
    • Pool – I love that this pool is family-friendly without being too childish.  There was an umbrella-mushroom like structure in the middle that showers down water.  The pool itself was a large rectangle. There was ample room for all our guest families and

others stopping by for a swim. At one end the pool was 3 feet. The other 3.5 feet. It was just the right depth for my boys to experience swimming for the first time vest-free without me being overly protective. They were so excited to know their feet could actually reach the bottom if they stood up. No worries about towels either. Even though we had brought our own Harrah’s keeps the pool area well-stocked with towels and a hamper to gather them when you are done.  The pool is available for hotel guests at no extra charge.

    • For an additional charge, that you can pay there or charge back to your room, your family can play these games at the Harrah’s Family Fun Center:

      • Water Wars

      • Shuffleboard
      • Miniature Golf
      • Arcade games that earn you tickets toward prizes
      • and more.

In full disclosure, Harrah’s Resort and Hotel in Atlantic City, provided Jersey Family Fun and our Bloggers at the Beach guests with hotel accommodations that did include the Harrah’s Family Fun Center so that we could experience the family-friendly aspects of the hotel. Our opinions are our own and are based on our experience at the Harrah’s Resort Casino and Family Fun Center.

Instead of letting her husband and boys slow her down, she brings them along! Did you know that boys behave better when they are out exploring? As her boys transition from tweens to teens there’s still so many places she wants to discover with them both across the U.S. and internationally.
