Greekpeakactivities

We are so excited to share this long list of Greek Peak Mountain activities, because there was so much to do at Greek Peak Mountain Resort/Hope Lake Lodge!

We arrived at Hope Lake Lodge at noon on Friday after a 3 and a half hour ride from our central NJ home. Check in was at 4:30 pm so what to do while we wait? No worries as there was plenty to choose from! Ski? Snow tube? Cascades Indoor Waterpark?

My kids can’t resist a waterpark, so Cascades won! The hotel staff happily stored our luggage and we headed down the hall from the Hope Lake Lodge lobby to Cascades Indoor Waterpark. A quick change and we were ready to splash! But read on – there was so much to choose from at Hope Lake Lodge, you won’t be bored at all!

Splash at Cascades Indoor Waterpark

Splash down!

Splash down!

Cascades is located inside the confines of the Hope Lake Lodge. While it might be freezing outside, the temperature in Cascades is 84 degrees so wear your swimsuit with no worries and prepare to get wet! 41,000 square feet of water fun await so pick a day (they’re open every day) and enjoy. Not going to splash? Spectator passes are available at a reduced rate so no need for anyone to wait in the room and miss the fun.

After we had a quick lunch at the Edgewater Cafe inside the waterpark, we put our belongings in a locker (a one time cost of $5 and accessible by a wristband) and got wet! My son is 42″ and was thrilled that he was able to ride the slides (one needed an adult companion)! Cascades is a manageable size, so that if you find a seat and your children want to play, you can let them without worry. Lifeguards were attentive and visible throughout the park. We spent at least three hours enjoying the park, with our favorite being the hot tub. Having never been to a ski resort it was a new experience for me and the kids to be outside in the snow – and in the hot tub! The full list of what Cascades offers:

  • Wave Pool with two types of waves
  • Body Slides
  • Activity Tower w/ a 500 gallon deluge bucket
  • 3 Story Tube Slides
  • Toddler Activity Pool
  • Indoor/Outdoor Hot Tub
  • Indoor/Outdoor Heated Pool (year round)
  • Locker Rooms
  • Edgewater Cafe providing snacks and refreshments.

Our pass was for only one day, but as hotel guests we could use the Cascaes pool/hot tub during our stay. We were lucky that a leaving guest passed on some unused passes so if you’re hanging around the lobby, make friends!

Ski!

Of course there’s skiing, just across the street! Click over to our post about the ski lessons my children took at Greek Peak Mountain Resort. There are over 30 trails and 8 lifts, with snowmaking, terrain parks and more. There’s certainly enough ski options to make a full trip possible. The lift lines never seemed long, even with the gorgeous weather day we had. Want to night ski? The trails are lit and ready for you from end of December until mid-March. They make snow at Greek Peak so no worries if it’s been dry. Prefer to snowshoe or cross country ski? You can do that too at the Nordic Center. A convenient shuttle runs between the lodge, mountain and Adventure Center.

Tube, Swing and Zip at the Adventure Center

For anyone 42″ or more, grab a tube and slide down one of 15 lanes at the Adventure Center’s snow tubing park! We headed there on Friday night and it was open late for us to enjoy. Tubes are available at the hill, one person per tube and one tube per lane. Ride the lift to the top and hold onto your hat (one of ours flew off!) as you quickly slide down in your lane. I was too nervous to try it but my children both loved it! They didn’t mind being alone in the tube and went down again and again.

The Adventure Center is open year round, and when the snow melts you can experience downhill biking, dual zip lines and a Eurobungy! Don’t count out Greek Peak Mountain Resort for the warm weather months – it’s a great all season option for a getaway.

Find Serenity at Waterfalls Spa

Doesn't it just LOOK relaxing?

Doesn’t it just LOOK relaxing?

What mom doesn’t want some quiet time and some pampering? The staff at Hope Lake Lodge’s Waterfalls Spa and Salon knows this, and I was treated to a sauna/massage that I will remember whenever life gets crazy! Just off the lobby behind a glass wall is the most relaxing space at Greek Peak. This full service spa can style you from top to bottom, or rejuvenate you with a facial, massage or sauna treatment. I arrived early and was led to the relaxation room – something I certainly don’t have in my home! – and sipped tea and read a book until my appointment time.  I was already so relaxed that by the end of my 20 minute sauna and 50 minute massage, I could barely move. My massage was perfect! The masseuse took time to ask if I had any issues, or any tight spots, and as peaceful music played I might have fallen asleep from the utter calm I felt. And how many moms can say that’s something they’ve felt lately? Can’t spare the time away from your family? Waterfalls offers a “Little Princess” package with services for mom and daughter.  The spa was busy, so make an appointment soon after booking your stay.  You will not regret it and of course, you deserve it!!

Keeping Little Ones Busy

Something at all times!

Something at all times!

I was so impressed to see the list of activities provided by Hope Lake Lodge in their Barefoot Den Activities Center! We were first introduced to them while we waited to check in on Friday; there were two women doing face painting for the waiting children. I then saw the list shown above of the activities and wow! We ended up having no time to participate and my children were upset that they couldn’t make a souvenir. There is Friday and Saturday babysitting offered as well, so if you want some adult night skiing, or a dinner date, Hope Lake Lodge has your solution!  There are other activities in the lobby like live music and when we returned from skiing Saturday there was an animal presentation in the lobby.  Every chair was taken!

Hope Lake Lodge is a true resort in that you can always find something to do and the staff to help you do it. Don’t hesitate to book your travel there, whether you ski or not!
