3 Great Ways to Spend a Spring Day in Hunterdon County New Jersey

 

Crystal Spring Preserve

233 acres of forest, farmland, meadows, ponds and the headwaters of the Spruce Run in Hunterdon County. The park’s name is derived from the mineral springs found in the area. These headwaters are important to wildlife. The ponds located within the park serve as resting point for migratory waterfowl and herons.  The water is also home to variety of amphibians and reptiles. Frogs can be heard calling from the edge of the ponds and turtles can be seen swimming around. Beaver are active in and around the ponds

Crystal Spring Preserve is  located in Lebanon Township at 20 Pleasant Grove Road, Port Murray 07865  and off of Califon Road, Long Valley 07853. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. No restrooms facilities are available.

Phillips Farm is a family-owned farm situated along the scenic Delaware River. Pick-your-own fruit during season is a fun and very family friendly outdoor activity. Experience Phillips Farm by picking your own fruit and berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, black raspberries, raspberries, peaches and apples.

Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary

This 180-acre sanctuary includes The Roving Nature Center and 11 miles of trails for hiking, dog walking and horseback riding.  Programs are listed on their web page but they include summer nature camps, maple sugaring, scouting programs, free nature events, children’s garden quilt and birthday parties.
