Field Day Survival Kit for Volunteers

Posted on: May 17th, 2016 by
We recently attended a CVS event and were provided with samples to take home. Those samples and the event inspired this blog post.

The end of the school year is coming!

Before we know it kids will be winding down or winding up as they get excited for end of the year activities. One of my favorite school days and my kids’ toward the end of the school year is field day. It’s a day I love because not only do the kids get to get outdoors to play but also parents can volunteer to lead activities, keep track of scores, and make sure kids stay safe and hydrated.

Field Day volunteer

One of my main reasons to be a Field Day volunteer, to make special memories with him.

For the past several years I have been a Field Day volunteer facepainting kids. I first started facepainting when I had a children’s party business so as a field day volunteer this was a natural fit for me. I am not athletically-inclined but I can make kids smile with facepaint designs of smiles, pirate faces, mustaches, and such.

One of the cuties, I enjoy facepainting.

Last week, I had a chance to attend a CVS launch event. CVS is rebranding and creating new health items under a brand line called CVS Health. As I walked around the room and learned about their new products, I was instantly reminded of my past field day volunteer experiences. There were sport bandages in kid-friendly colors and designs that would be perfect for emergency boo boos. Sunscreen, antibiotic ointment, reusable ice packs, and more got me thinking, I needed to create a Field Day Survival Kit for Volunteers, a bag of must have items for field day. If I could use such a kit, then other Field Day volunteers might benefit from it as well. With that in mind, I’m sharing my list. As an added bonus to Jersey Family Fun readers and with help from CVS we are gifting a $50 CVS gift certificate and CVS samples so that you too can create your own field day volunteer survival kit.
