Fancy Nancy Jumps from the Books into Hearts in the new Disney Junior Fancy Nancy TV Series

I was honored to be invited to the #AntManandWaspEvent, a Disney press junket for Marvel Studios Ant-Man and the Wasp movie, Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, and Disney Junior’s Fancy Nancy. As a guest, my expenses were covered in return for a series of articles about my experiences and reviews of the programming.

What an honor it was to be a part of the first screening of Disney Junior’s new Fancy Nancy televsion series. When Executive Producer/Director Jamie Mitchell said in our interview that he wanted to create a setting for Fancy Nancy that “was a fully immersed environment that viewers will want to be in,” he wasn’t kidding. The two 11-minute episodes we were able to prescreen of Fancy Nancy were fun, engaging, and vividly colorful. All of us wanted to step inside and be a part of Nancy’s world whether she was decorating her playhouse, teaching her friends the rules to being fancy,or something else.

“Fancy Nancy,” the New York Times bestselling book series by Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser, has been optioned by Disney Junior for development of an original animated TV movie and series, as well as for related role-play items and other consumer products licensed by Disney Consumer Products. 3 Reasons to Watch Fancy Nancy on Disney Junior

Disney Junior’s FANCY NANCY is going to be a fun uplifting show for young children to watch. For kids who discovered the Fancy Nancy stories on their teacher’s book shelf or their local library the show will let kids see how Nancy brings her stories to life. Kids can bring that back to their own playtime and recreate each story line infused with their own imagination. Then that playtime becomes motivation to sit down and read another story. For Fancy Nancy fans she is a hero that shows them what’s possible.

Parents will also find that show creators Jamie Mitchell and Krista Tucker were purposeful in creating humor in each episode that will appeal to parents. Fancy Nancy isn’t just for the kids, but for grown ups to enjoy with kids as well.

Each Disney Junior Fancy Nancy episode focuses on life lessons.

“Everyone has their own way of being fancy. “

From the get go we know that Fancy Nancy will be unlike any other kids programming. While Nancy has her own set ways of doing things and appearing fancy she quickly learns in the premiere episode that her way is not always the right way. “Everyone has their own way of being fancy. “ Nancy will be surrounded by friends that support her but also let her know when she is wrong. Expect to see episodes where characters will learn important life lessons through experiences, their friends, and their families. Some of the storylines include but aren’t limited to handling conflict between friends, causes for bullying, and developing independence.

Fancy Nancy builds up kids’ vocabulary and language skills

It wouldn’t be Fancy Nancy without our main character using fancy language and speaking French. What’s educational about the TV series is that Nancy will be able to teach your kids French and impressive vocabulary words without it being overwhelming. It’s simply in how Nancy speaks. She teaches while talking with her friends, always pausing to define a word that they may not be familiar with. When kids read the Fancy Nancy book that compliments that episode the words on the page will reinforce what they heard in the episode.

While Nancy might not pronounce everything in French absolutely correctly, because she is American it is accurate. A French consultant is on the team to make sure the use of the French language is correct.

Fancy Nancy helps kids feel empowered

The creators of Fancy Nancy have shared with us that they want kids to know their voices matter and they are more powerful than they know. It’s something viewers will see a lot of in upcoming episodes. For example, in the “No trees, no cuddles” episode Nancy and her friends start a revolution in their cul-de-sac when the grownups make a decision the kids don’t agree with.
