Fourth of July Celebrations
The Village of Ridgefield Park is the quintessential All American Town. For the last 130 years, the Village, rooted in family and community, has celebrated the country’s birthday. The Fourth of July is their longest and deepest tradition.
The Ridgefield Park Fourth of July Parade and Celebration, founded in 1894 is one of the oldest parades in the United States, and the oldest in New Jersey. The Ridgefield Park Fourth of July Citizens Committee prepares for the day’s events months ahead of time. Many organizations, schools, churches and families also plan for the day’s activities. Invitations are sent to organizations in and outside the community to participate. Emergency Service Units prepare for every possible occurrence so that residents and visitors to the Village can relax and enjoy the day. The Mayor and Commissioners welcome all to the Village for these events. During the weekend, decorated homes and businesses are judged and prizes awarded.
