Jefferson Fest III – food truck festival, concert, and fireworks celebration – will take place on Saturday, July 13, on the fields at Jefferson Township High School (1010 Weldon Road). The event is sponsored by the township and the Jefferson Arts Committee.
Continuing a long-standing tradition, the 15th annual Irish road bowling tournament begins at 3:00. The “alley” is Catholic Charities Way off Weldon Road, the home of Wiegand Farm at the Department for Persons with Disabilities facility.
The third annual Jefferson Fest officially kicks off at 5:00 with DJ Earl Heller of Sound Solutions Entertainment. Local organizations will sponsor free children’s activities on the field: KanJam (Knights of Columbus Council 5510), vertical basket toss (Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Church), and ball toss (Child and Family Services).
Jefferson Township Fire Companies 1 and 2, Milton First Aid Squad, and Jefferson Township Rescue Squad will present Touch-a-Truck, where all are invited to explore the community service vehicles up close. Pending final confirmation, there will be a children’s fishing contest and rock climbing wall.
A variety of food trucks with delectable menus will open at 5:30. To date, they include Jersey Johnny’s (hot dogs), Cheezen (gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches), Maddalena’s Cheesecake, Eat My Balls (rice balls), E-Zee Concessions (funnel cake), Carmelo’s Brick Oven Pizza, and AJ’s Country Cone. Others will be added.
Jersey Sound (www.jerseysound.com) takes the main stage at 7:15 for a two-hour concert. Known for versatility, the group’s talented vocalists and killer rhythm section give audiences an eclectic blend of classic oldies, Motown, R&B, and pop.
The Jefferson Arts Committee will sell 50/50 raffle tickets for a drawing at 9:20. Food trucks will continue offering delicious refreshments throughout the evening.
All eyes will be raised to the sky at 9:30 for a spectacular fireworks display staged and choreographed by Interstate Fireworks. The company has presented its popular show in Jefferson Township for more than two decades.
