12th Annual Hub City Sounds Festivals

New Brunswick Cultural Center/Arts New Brunswick presents the 12th annual Hub City Sounds series, taking place this summer to fall from July 23rd through October 30th, 2022. This FREE, family-friendly series is a performing, visual, and culinary arts festival with events for all ages and tastes. This year’s festival is both virtual and in-person.

“We are so excited to present the 12th annual Hub City Sounds, featuring both in-person and virtual arts and entertainment for the residents of New Brunswick, Middlesex County, and beyond,” said Tracey O’Reggio Clark, Interim Executive Director of the New Brunswick Cultural Center. “From July to October, we welcome everyone to enjoy these events featuring live music and dance performances, delicious food from local vendors, and so much more.”

  • July 23, 2022 at East Jersey Old Town Village 1050 River Road
    • Pay homage to music from the 1920s, celebrating great musicians like James P. Johnson and dancers like Josephine Baker at the East Jersey Old Town Village—home to historic buildings; featuring historic demonstrators; interactive, paper-making workshops courtesy of Frontline Arts; and culinary specialties from food trucks from around the County. 
  • August 6, 2022 at Boyd Park
    • Offering mouthwatering treats, music and dance performances inspired by the culture and traditions from Northern and Southern India, complemented by educational Yoga demonstrations, Zumba Bollywood, and a Visual Arts workshop and competition.
  • August 12, 2022 at Above Art Studio
    • The Art Battle is where the Food Network © “Chopped” meets Visual Arts. This competition features 7 artists, 3 rounds, and 1 Cash Prize winner
  • August 13, 2022 at Monument Square
    • The festival which celebrates all the vibrant arts and history that New Brunswick and the County of Middlesex has to offer, will feature live music and dance, craft making activities, an Arts Market for visual arts, craft vendors, food vendors, and more! 
  • August 27, 2022 at Recreation Park
    • Revel in the island vibes with Caribbean cuisine, music, and dance performances (reggae ,soca, and calypso); learn about the English, Spanish, French, and Dutch speaking Caribbean.
  • September 10, 2022 in front of New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC)
    • This unique, live Jazz festival is hosted in partnership with Flemington, New Brunswick, Somerville, and Metuchen.
  • September 17, 2022 in front of New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC)
    • Celebrating Latin Heritage Month, Hub City Music Festival, and Hunger Action Month
  • October 30, 2022
    • Featuring live performances in front of New Brunswick Performing Arts Center(NBPAC) on Livingston Avenue, and Trick or Treating on George Street and French Street.
