This is one playground that could be easy to miss if you’re just driving through Passaic, so I’m especially thankful we found it while researching Passaic County playgrounds. Dundee Island Park Playground in Passaic New Jersey is unlike any playground we’ve yet to see in New Jersey. Resembling a marshland of sorts there are so many ways kids can climb, twist, travel, and play in their own pretend swampland.

Where is Dundee Island Park Playground located?
Dundee Island Park playground is located at Veterans Court in Passaic New Jersey. It is not visible from the main road. To access Veteran’s Court you drive through what seems like an alley between a school and another building. The park is part of the Passaic County park system.
What kind of playground equipment does the Dundee Island Park have?
There are two larger areas of playground equipment and other playground structures. There is an older kid section and a section of toddler playground equipment. The playground offers swings, slides, monkey bars, and most things you would expect at a playground.
The playground theme is vibrant shades of green, yellow, and blue and reminds me of marshlands with tall reeds. There are extremely tall reeds and leaves in different shades of green. Some serve as decor and some serve as climbing walls.
Are there swings?
There was one swing structure with 2 baby swings and 2 traditional swings.
Are there slides?
The larger section of playground equipment has one tunnel slide and one open twisting slide. The toddler playground has two straight slides. All slides are metal. Be careful on a hot day as there is no shade on these slides.
What special features does the playground offer?
There are so many fun extras to this playground.

What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
The ground cover is a soft blue rubber padding.
Is the playground at Dundee Island Park accessible?
The playground structures are not wheelchair accessible. There are some sensory play areas and even bilingual play areas but they are not accessible by wheelchair or stroller. There are no accessible swings.
Is there shade available at the Dundee Island Park Playground?
There is not a lot of shade available at this playground. We did find a shady play area under the main structure.
Where is parking for Dundee Island Park?
There were two small parking lots. One is adjacent to the playground. The other is past the fitness center.
Are there restrooms at Dundee Island Park?
Restrooms were available in the building labeled Dundee Island Park. One quick note, at the time of our visit on June 8, 2022, the women’s restroom was not labeled but it is to the left of the men’s restroom.

In addition to the playground at Dundee Island Park Playground, there are additional amenities available for visitors.
Spray Ground
Visitors to Dundee Island Park may be intrigued by the ##. They can be activated to spray and drop water by placing a hand on the pad. I was impressed with how long the water flowed and sprayed before having to be reactivated.
Are there walking trails?
There is a River Walk walking path. It has benches that overlook the water. As you walk the path portions of the river view are hard to see due to the trees, greenery, and community garden.
Are there fields or courts for sports?
Yes, there are fields for sports. There was a soccer field and a multipurpose field.
