The park is located at 819 Buck Road in the Elmer section of Pittsgrove Township in Salem County, New Jersey. The park is part of the Pittsgrove Township park system.

What kind of playground equipment does Deer Pen Park have?
Amy initially reported on this playground back in 2013. We returned today, August 25, 2022, to see how the playground was doing and if anything changed. The equipment that was there today is the same equipment as was there in 2013. The slides, structure, climbing arch, and swings all remain. The springy ride-on toys are not there and one of the swings was removed.

Are there swings?
There are two swing structures. One swing structure has 4 baby swings.

The other swing structure has 3 traditional swings.

Are there slides?
There were 3 slides in all. The first is a stand-alone twisting slide.

The other slides are on a structure. There is one side-by-side slide on the front and a short straight slide on the back.


What special features does the playground offer?
This Elmer playground offers a few ways to climb. There is a stand-alone twisting climbing arch and an arching climbing ladder on the playground structure.


The playground also offers monkey bar rings and a zip line.

What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
It looks like at one time the ground cover was wood mulch. Some of that remains but there is also grass that has grown around the wood mulch.

Is the playground at Deer Pen Park accessible?
The playground is not accessible. There are no accessible swings, sensory play, or equipment that would be accessible to a child confined to a wheelchair.
Is there shade available at Deer Pen Park?
The trees provide some shade to the swings, but the rest of the playground is in the full sun. The best place to get out of the sun would be at the pavilion, gazebo, or any of the picnic tables under the trees.



Where is parking for the Deer Pen Park Playground?
There is a medium-sized parking lot.

Are there restrooms at Deer Pen Park Playground?
There was one port-a-potty at the front end of the parking lot.

What else is there to do at Deer Pen Park?
There are not really any additional amenities available for visitors. There is a lot of open grassy area, but there are no fields or walking paths.

We are trying to find out that information, but have not been successful. I would suggest contacting the Salem County Parks & Recreation department. They should be able to give you a better answer. - Jenn
