We originally published our listing of Amazing Amusement Parks New Jersey kids love to visit in 2015. From the start, we’ve included amusement parks in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania because we know families looking for thrills don’t mind driving to get to them.

Nothing sounds like summer more than the excited screams of children riding their first roller coaster. New Jersey has a variety of amusement parks ready for a visit from your family, and we’ll tell you where to find them!

We compiled a list of all of the great amusement parks in New Jersey – plus a few in our surrounding metro area. We think your kids will love a visit, and so will you!

The East Hanover Funplex

The outdoor attractions at Funplex will reopen July 2nd. The park will open at 12 PM Wednesday-Friday and 10 AM on Saturday and Sunday. The water park, Splashplex will close at 8 PM and the dry rides will remain open until 9 PM Friday – Sunday. Entry is by reservation only.

Year round indoor fun gets even better in the summer with the opening of Splashplex, an all ages outdoor waterpark.

Land of Make Believe

Land of Make Believe will reopen on July 2nd. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

With a water park and rides it’s a great choice for a warm day! Land of Make Believe is geared toward little ones so if you’re just starting out with amusement parks this is a perfect option.

  • The Land of Make Believe is located at 354 Great Meadows Rd in Hope.

  • Open for the public WEEKENDS ONLY starting Memorial Day weekend (including Memorial Day Monday) thru 3rd weekend in June. Open for the public EVERY DAY from June 15 thru Labor Day. Land of Make Believe will also be open on the weekend after Labor Day.

Monmouth County NJ Amusement Parks

iPlay America

As of June 25, iPlay America remains closed. On July 2, indoor dining and the TopGolf Swing Suite plans to reopen.

A fully enclosed indoor amusement park and arcade, iPlay America is one of our JFF favorites. Enjoy a 4D theater, laser tag, good food and fun rides inside. Admission into the building and parking is free, rides are pay as you go.

Keansburg Amusement Park

As of June 25, the water park, amusement park and arcades plan to open on July 2. The batting cages and go-karts are open.

Located right by the bay, Keansburg Amusement Park is a fun Jersey Shore place to spend a day!

  • The Keansburg Amusement Park is located at 275 Beachway Avenue in Keansburg.
  • Keansburg Amusement Park rides are by ticket. The waterpark is admission by 2 hour increments.

  • Keansburg Amusement Park opens for weekends beginning April 6 and weekday hours start Memorial Day weekend.
  • Keansburg Amusement Park closes for weekdays on Labor Day but remains open weekends the through September.
  • Hours vary, but are generally 10 AM – 10 PM.
  • There is a parking lot behind the amusement park for a $5 weekday fee or $7 weekend fee. On street meter parking is also available. 
  • Admission to the rides is by individual tickets and the waterpark is by hour starting at $14.95 for toddlers. Season passes are available.

South Jersey is home to the most amusement parks in New Jersey. Enjoy these NJ Amusement parks at the Jersey Shore and in South Jersey including those in Atlantic County, Burlington County, Camden County, Cape May County and Ocean County.

Atlantic County NJ Amusement Parks

Steel Pier

The Steel Pier will reopen July 2.

The classic Atlantic City boardwalk once again has rides! Steel Pier offers rides for all ages right on the Atlantic Ocean.

  • The Steel Pier is located at 1000 Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
  • Rides are by ticket; games and food are available as well.
  • Steel Pier opens for the season July 2.
  • Steel Pier closes for the season on September 7 but remains open weekends throughout October 11.

Storybook Land

Storybook Land will reopen July 3, with daily hours of 10 AM – 6 PM.

A family favorite for over 60 years! Storybook Land brings children’s classics to life through rides, attractions and cute displays kids will love.

  • Storybook Land is located at 6415 E Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township.
  • Tickets are by general admission, pay one price. Ticket prices at Storybook Land start at $22.95. Season passes are available.
  • Storybook Land opens for the season July 3.
  • Storybook Land closes for the season December 30, with limited weekday hours after August 30.

Burlington County NJ Amusement Parks

The Mt Laurel Funplex

The outdoor attractions at Funplex will reopen July 2nd. The park will open at 12 PM Wednesday-Friday and 10 AM on Saturday and Sunday. The water park, Splashplex will close at 8 PM and the dry rides will remain open until 9 PM Friday – Sunday. Entry is by reservation only.

Camden County NJ Amusement Parks

Diggerland USA

Diggerland USA will reopen July 2.

Diggerland USA is the only construction themed adventure park in the US where children and families can drive, ride and operate actual machinery. The park, which covers about 14 acres in West Berlin, New Jersey (20 minutes from Philadelphia), has over 25 attractions.What more can we say except how much we love the unique Diggerland USA! With new rides and activities being added all the time, if you’ve ever been, it’s time to go back! As much fun for the adults as the kids, plan to spend all day digging, riding, now even flying.

Clementon Park and Splashworld – Status Unknown as of June 2020

  • Clementon Park and Splashworld is located at 144 Berlin Road in Clementon.
  • This South Jersey amusement park has been around for over 100 years! Now with a fun water park, it’s time to explore this gem.
  • Clementon Park opens for the season with weekend hours on May 24, weekday hours begin June 13.
  • Clementon Park closes for the season weekdays on Labor Day, but remains open on weekends until October 13.
  • Hours vary but are generally 11 AM – 8 PM.
  • Daily admission begins at $34.99 when purchased online. Season passes are available.

Gillian’s Wonderland Pier

Gillian’s rides will reopen July 2.

  • Morey’s Piers is located at 3501 Boardwalk in Wildwood.

Playland’s Castaway Cove

  • Playland’s Castaway Cove is located at 1020 Boardwalk in Ocean City.
  • Over 30 rides for kids of all ages right on the famed Ocean City boardwalk. Don’t miss the go karts!

Blackbeard’s Cave

  • Blackbeard’s Cave is located at 136 Atlantic City Blvd in Bayville.

Casino Pier

Seaside Heights boardwalk has seen some tough times in the last decade but don’t count them out! Casino Pier is open and operating the classic boardwalk rides you remember. There’s also a water park for those hot summer days.

    Eagleswood Amusement Park

    With rides, miniature golf and an arcade, Eagleswood offers enough for little ones who may get overwhelmed at the larger parks. Visit it on your way to LBI, or when you’ve had enough beach time!

    Outdoor games open June 26 and rides will resume on July 2.

    As of June 25, the batting cages, outdoor games, mini golf, ropes course and outdoor dining is open. The aquarium, rides and arcades will reopen July 2.

    Jenkinsons offers so much you may not even make it to the beach! With an aquarium, fun house, miniature golf, ropes course, arcade and rides, it’ll be one of your family’s favorites.

    Six Flags Great Adventure’s drive through safari is open as of June 25, and both Hurricane Harbor and rides will reopen July 3 for members and pass holders, July 4 for the general public. Reservations will be required.

    If you’re looking for thrills at amusement parks in New Jersey you can’t beat Six Flags. But even if you’re not looking for the major coasters you will have something to smile about! The Looney Tunes characters, the kids shows, the sky ride and the neighboring Hurricane Harbor make Six Flags one of our favorite New Jersey attractions. Bonus that they’re open through December!
