Santa Land in Denville!

 

 

It’s Christmas time again. That means it’s time for the annual picture with Santa. In past years, that has meant waiting in long lines at the mall, being rushed through our visit, and paying a fortune for a few pictures. We thought that’s what we had to do in order to get good pictures with Santa. But this year we discovered Santa Land in Denville (Morris County). We had such a great experience there, and we are planning on making it an annual tradition.

 

4 Reasons My Family Loved Santa Land in Denville

• Our visit with Santa was private and not rushed. Santa visits with families in a little room. He only allows 1 family at a time inside. This meant that we were able to talk to Santa without a line of people staring at us and making us feel rushed. Both kids were able to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas and he asked them questions about how good they had been. After we had finished our conversation, Santa posed for a picture. It felt like we were having a private visit with Santa and made the kids feel more comfortable.

 

 

• There is so much for the kids to do while they wait for Santa. The great part about Santa Land is that there is more to it then just seeing Santa. While Daddy was waiting in line to see Santa, the kids and I explored the other areas of Santa Land. There was a wooden train that the kids could climb in and pretend to drive. There are also several adorable houses that the kids can peek in. In one house the 3 little bears were having a Christmas breakfast. Their cottage was completely decorated for Christmas including stockings hung by the fireplace with their names on it. There was also a window with a glimpse into Santa’s workshop. We watched some elves building wooden soldiers. There were also a lot of wooden Christmas characters to see and a mailbox to mail letters to Santa. We spent about an hour playing around Santa Land.

 

 

• It was not crowded at all! When we go see Santa in the mall we always end up waiting in a long line. The wait is boring and the kids get very grumpy. Santa Land is completely different. We got to Santa Land about 15 minutes before Santa arrived and we were the 3rd family there. After we were finished with Santa there were about 10 other families waiting to see Santa. But even if you have a little wait for Santa there is so much to do to occupy the kids while you wait. I saw a lot of families have 1 parent wait in line while the kids played. That makes the wait easier on the kids and keeps them less grumpy for their visit with Santa.

 

 

• It’s much less expensive than the mall Santa. Santa Land is run by the Denville Rotary club and is staffed by volunteers. There is no set charge to visit Santa Land. When you go in to visit Santa there is a donation box by the door. You can visit with Santa and even have a photo printed for you for only a few dollars.

 

We had a great time visiting Santa Land and can’t wait to go back again. This is the 56th year that the Rotary Club has set up Santa Land in Denville. They are constantly adding new things and making changes. We look forward to exploring next year’s set up.
