Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Xfinity store in King of Prussia. If you are an Xfinity customer and have not been to one of their stores, you must check it out. Gone are the days of the old buildings with a glass panel that separated you from the Comcast representative. The customer service for today’s Xfinity customer has reached a whole new level of wow. Inside the stores, you can talk with associates one on one and learn how to get the most from your Xfinity services. You can learn how to use an app to set up parental controls. You can see how you can use your Xfinity menu to add or delete channels from your monthly plan. You can even use Xfinity’s features to take the lead in your fantasy football league. And your children, they can watch their favorite Minecraft YouTube videos on your TV… videos that meet the parental controls you have in place. It’s quite fascinating all you can do with Xfinity.

When I met with the Xfinity representatives last week we learned all about those new enhancements to Xfinity. But we also learned how they plan to shake up mobile wireless service. Have the Xfinity Mobile commercials made you curious about their new mobile services? I know my husband and I have been wanting to learn more. With that in mind, I’m sharing what I learned in hopes that it will help you as you consider whether Xfinity Mobile is right for you.

What is Xfinity Mobile?

Xfinity Mobile is a way for Comcast Xfinity internet service subscribers to get reliable affordable cell wireless service bundled with their other Xfinity services.

 

Why is Xfinity offering mobile service?

Xfinity developed Xfinity Mobile as a way to save their subscribers money while also enhancing the services they provide to them. By bundling services not only can a family save on their wireless phone bills but they can also get the most value from their services as they work together seamlessly

 

What makes Xfinity Mobile better than your regular mobile service provider?

  • Unlike your regular mobile service provider Xfinity does not charge any line access fees.
  • Xfinity Mobile uses America’s largest, most reliable 4G LTE network.
  • As Comcast Xfinity internet subscribers you also have access to Comcast’s 18 million Wi-Fi hotspots.
  • Xfinity Mobile users can switch between by the gig and unlimited plans and options without penalties even in the middle of a billing cycle.

 

Do I have to have Xfinity to get Xfinity Mobile?

Yes, you need to be subscribed to Xfinity internet services to purchase their mobile service. However, it does not matter which level of Xfinity internet services you have. All current Xfinity internet users are eligible for Xfinity Mobile.

 

Can I use my current phone with Xfinity Mobile? Do I need to get a new phone?

At the current time, when you add the mobile service to your Xfinity services, you will need to purchase a new phone that is compatible with their plans. The Comcast Xfinity stores carry a variety of smartphone models at prices starting at less than $10 a month. Select from the most popular mobile devices, including the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus – as well as iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RED Special Edition, – iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE. Xfinity Mobile also features the best devices from Samsung and LG.

As far as using your current phone, Xfinity is working on technology to allow Xfinity subscribers to use their current phone models with Xfinity Mobile. Stay tuned!

How much does it cost to get Xfinity Mobile service? What plans does Xfinity Mobile offer? Does Xfinity Mobile offer unlimited data?

With Xfinity Mobile customers can get up to five lines with unlimited talk and text and up to 100 MB of shared data for free . There are two plans for mobile users purchasing additional data. One plan is $12 per gig used across all Xfinity Mobile devices (up to 5 lines) on your account. The other Xfinity Mobile plan is unlimited, for a flat rate of $45 per line. Subscribers can change plans in the middle of the month or midbilling cycle, so you’re free to switch as your needs change. If you are switching your services and plan the new pricing will take effect in the current billing cycle. If you want to switch back, the fee will be adjusted the following billing cycle.

Are there overage charges with Xfinity Mobile?

No. With Xfinity Mobile, you will never have to worry about overage fees. Those who opt for the by the gig plan should just keep an eye on their usage. If you’re approaching four (or more) gigs one month, it makes sense to switch to Unlimited that month, so the most you’ll pay is $45. Your pricing is based on how many gigs you use or lines you purchase. Members of your household can be on different plans. For example, if your children primarily access the internet while at home using your WiFi have them share data with the per gig price. If you as parents tend to use more than 3 gigs, put yourselves on the unlimited monthly plan. You can monitor your usage as often as needed and make changes accordingly with no penalties or added fees.

How can I monitor my family’s usage of data on Xfinity Mobile?

You can monitor your family’s data usage on the Xfinity Mobile app. Subscribers can also view call logs in real time, manage payment options, switch back-and-forth between data options, order a new device or add additional lines.
