Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on a year of experiences. The whole year is busy with running, from work, to school work, to housework, there is little time to actually look back and enjoy what we have gone through.
What has changed for the better in your life? What things are you thankful for?
This year I decided I would make a Thankful Tree Thanksgiving Day Craft with my children so they are aware of everything they have and what they are thankful for. With seeing every commercial on TV with what they want, have to have and need I wanted them to know that they have LOTS of things, tangible and non-tangible a like.
All you need for your Thankful Tree Thanksgiving Day Craft:
- Paper leaves, which you can cut out as leaves or use your hands to make your leaves on the tree.
- Colored Pencils
- Poster board
- Colored construction paper
Steps to make your Thankful Tree Thanksgiving Day Craft:
When you first make your thankful tree cut out the amount of leaves you will need over the course of time until Thanksgiving (this all depends on how often you will be doing this, once a day, once a week? It is up to you.)
Draw your Thankful Tree without leaves.
Each day, or week until Thanksgiving have your children tell you, or write down depending on how old they are, what they are thankful for and add it to a leaf. They will be amazed at all the things they are thankful for!
Attach the leaves to the tree. If you don’t have enough room on the branches you drew you can always put them on the ground too.
Will you make a Thankful Tree Thanksgiving Day Craft?
We would love to see what you and your children came up with!
