We continue our National Take A Child Outside Week, September 24 – September 30, series with a look at the pick your own farms in New Jersey. If you’ve missed any part of our series this week, you can visit The Great Outdoor Series to get caught up.
My boys and I love the pick-your-own farms. I love walking the fields with them, relaxed, as we pick fruit that we’ll later enjoy. It’s an opportunity to slow down life for a little while and enjoy my time with them. (Don’t they grow up too quick?) We’ve picked blueberries, strawberries, and pumpkins and have made some incredible memories doing so. One of my favorites is from our trip to the Butterhof Shady Brook farm, we can’t wait to go back this year. Later today, we’ll have Rebekah’s review of Johnson’s Farm.
- Sweet potatoes
- and more
With Fall here, many New Jersey farms are also offering these activities:
- Corn Mazes
- Tractor Rides
- Beautiful backdrops for photos
- Fields of hay to play in
