When you’re on a mission to visit as many playgrounds as you can over the summer sometimes that means the weather doesn’t always cooperate. It was a rainy day when we visited Jane Magovern’s Playground in Belmar, but even the rain couldn’t hide the fun that exists at this fantastic Belmar playground.
As you enjoy these pictures of the colorful and fun playground equipment just imagine how incredible it would be to see it in person when the sun is shining and the ground isn’t so wet. In fact, we can tell you that even with the rain still a bit drizzly families still were enjoying this playground, that’s how much families love it.

The playground is at the corner of 8th Avenue and C Street in Belmar, New Jersey. The park is part of the Belmar park system.
What kind of playground equipment does Jane Magovern’s Playground have?
This Belmar playground is fully fenced in and opens only on one side to a sidewalk that leads to the street. The main feature of this playground is a large climbing structure with slides.
There’s also a preschool playground with slides.
Are there swings?
There are 2 swing sets at this playground. One swing set features 2 disc swings. The other swing set features 2 accessible swings, 2 traditional swings, and 2 companion swings. There are two types of companion swings, both are meant for younger children.
Are there slides?
The large climbing structure has a blue slightly curvy slide.
The preschool structure has a bumpy slide and a short straight slide.
What special features does the playground offer?
The preschool playground has a rock climbing wall, hanging climbing ladders, a balance beam, drums, and sensory play dials.
There is a human mobile with this colorful panels at the top.
There is a very large climbing web right near the entrance to the park.
Right next to the climbing web are multiple bright green climbing structures. There are towers, ladders, ropes, and more giving kids the opportunity to climb vertically and horizontally.
There are also towers like this for climbing.
What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
The ground surface is a dark rubber padding.
Is the playground at Jane Magovern’s Playground accessible?
The playground is accessible. In addition to the accessible swings, there is a high-back spinner and some sensory play areas around the preschool playground.
There is also a wheelchair-accessible Sway Fun glider. Though it sits inside the playground visitors need to access it from a separate paved sidewalk into the playground.
Is there shade available at Jane Magovern’s Playground?
The playground is in the full sun. There are no trees surrounding it or canopies to provide shade.
Where is parking?
Free street parking is available right along the front of the playground.
Are there restrooms at Jane Magovern’s Playground?
There are no restrooms located at this playground.
What else is there to do at Jane Magovern’s Playground?
Since the playground sits on a field in Belmar there are not any amenities beyond walking trails and the open grassy area.
Are there walking trails?
There are sidewalks that run in front of the park as well as a paved path that runs between the playground and the lake. The lakefront walking path does offer some benches.
Are there fields or courts for sports?
There are no athletic fields or courts.
