Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill, Places to Stay in Philadelphia with Kids

This post was sponsored by Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill who provided us with accommodations at the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill during my family’s recent visit. We appreciate their support of Jersey Family Fun that allows us to share with families information about family friendly Philadelphia hotels we think your family may enjoy for family vacations.

Do you know how it is when your family is in town but you can’t comfortably fit them all in your home? Or perhaps they want to spend a lot of time exploring a great destination, like Philadelphia, but you need more than your standard hotel room to fit everyone?

That was our dilemma a few weeks ago…BUT what started out as a problem became a great opportunity for us to show off the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill. Not only is this Sheraton, positioned nicely between Penn’s Landing and Philadelphia’s best attractions, but it also can accommodate larger families or families traveling together with their various room arrangements. During our most recent stay, we had 3 connecting rooms reserved for us.

  • Standard room with 2 double beds
  • Standard room with 1 king size bed
  • The Parlor Suite with a lounge area, eating area, and Murphy Bed

Our video tour of our rooms at the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill

This was such an amazing stay for us. Our rooms were spacious. The pool was open late. And the Club Lounge is great for feeding kids (and adults), hungry after a busy day exploring Philadelphia. This was my first time on a joint vacation with my sister and her kids and our stay at the Sheraton is one BIG reason why we will remember our time together fondly, as will our boys.

The Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill standard rooms included:

  • 1 Plush Sheraton Sweet Sleeper™ Beds King size bed or 2 double beds
  • Flat-screen HDTVs with premium movie channels
  • A closet/dresser
  • Ergonomic workspaces with chairs, desks, telephones and voicemail
  • Additional seating
  • Upgraded bathrooms with Shine by Bliss® bath amenities and a standard size tub
  • Some include microwaves
  • Starbucks® one-cup coffee makers, laptop safes, bathrobes, and irons/ironing boards

The Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill adjoining room/ Parlor Room suite features

  • Sheraton Philadelphia Society HillA large couch to seat your family comfortably while watching a show or playing a game.
  • Flat-screen HDTVs with premium movie channels
  • A table with seating for 4
  • A closet/dresser
  • A bathroom with a tub. (Nice benefit if you have several people who need to get ready at the same time.)
  • A bar/vanity area with a minirefrigerator and countertop.  (Pick up some cereal, milk, and lunch items for your visit and you’ll cut down on some of your meal expenses.)
  • Bottled water was included in all the rooms.

Sheraton® Club Guest Rooms, where we stayed, include access to the exclusive Sheraton® Club Lounge, which provides a complimentary continental breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres and refreshing beverages daily.

A stay in a Sheraton® Club Guest Rooms comes at a higher room rate, but I believe the value of it can’t be beat. During our stay, the Club Lounge had a large variety of healthy and not-so-healthy ;-) snacks and beverages to chose from. We were also able to help ourselves to hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and the complimentary continental breakfast with some hot items. This saved us the expense of using vending machines or inconvenience of either packing foods or finding a place for breakfast before we spent a day exploring Philadelphia.

What you should know if you stay at the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill hotel.

  • The Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill is located at 1 Dock Street in Philadelphia.
  • Plan ahead for your meals. Here are some options you can consider.
    • Eat in the hotel restaurant or grab breakfast in the Club Lounge (for select rooms)
    • Make a reservation at Dave & Busters in Penn’s Landing, nearby on Columbus Blvd or the City Tavern on South 2nd Street.
    • Visit Philly.com for a list of restaurants within walking or driving distance. (To access most restaurants by foot you will need to cross over some busy roadways so be prepared if you plan to walk. Consider the distance your children can walk and allow yourself extra time for getting there.)
    • Bring food with you and take advantage of the refrigerator and microwave and create your own meal. (Minifridges are standard in some rooms, but not all rooms will have a microwave. If this is important to you make sure you request that when you make your reservation.)

Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill hotel pool

Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill hotel pool

  • If you plan to swim at the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill pool.
    • It’s a square-shape pool that runs from 3 1/2 to 4 feet.
    • It’s open from 6:30 am till 10 pm. It’s an added perk I love. Many hotels close their pools early in the evening leaving families with limited options for entertaining the kids at night.  By being open late, families can play at their favorite attractions and then come back to the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill to swim at night.
  • If you are traveling with babies or toddlers
    • Cribs and rollaways are available by request.
  • Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill does not have their own parking garage. Valet parking is available. There is an additional fee for parking but that can be added to your hotel charges.
  • Wireless high-speed Internet access  is available for a fee. ($9.95/day)
  • Room Rates may vary so it’s best to check the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill site for rates and availability.
