- Walk to the park for a picnic. Maybe you are used to walking to the bus stop or the school each morning with your kids. Perhaps you usually pack them a lunch. Shake things up by packing the lunches in a picnic basket and take a walk to one of your local parks. Fruits are healthy grab-and-go snacks that are easy to toss into a picnic basket. Plus visits to the park are a great way for the kids to get exercise, fresh air, and burn off some energy. - Take story time on the road. Your children visit the library at school once a week to keep up their reading skills. Keep that going all summer long. Shake things up by visiting your local library. Check out new books while also learning about their fun summer activities for kids. Then, grab those books and get the kids reading wherever you go: in the car on the way to an amusement park, on the beach in between building sand castles, in a hotel room as the kids settle down for bed. As an added way to shake up your summer reading, share with your kids these great rewards for summer reading.
- Shake, Clean, See. Just because the kids don’t have school in the morning doesn’t mean healthy habits should slip.
