Eat Stay and Play – Plan Your Family Vacation to Okemo Mountain Resort

Experience Vermont Skiing at Okemo Mountain Resort!

Living in Central New Jersey we have to travel to get a true mountain skiing experience. It’s difficult to get my children to agree to a car ride of 5 hours or more, but when they saw photos of Okemo Mountain Resort, after we were invited for a stay during their media weekend, they agreed it would be very worth it. The skiing, the pools, the comfy hotel rooms – taking a day off school didn’t hurt – we were ready to go.

A road trip through different regions is always a learning experience. With a quick stop for lunch in Albany, we were heading into Vermont and pointing out other ski mountains along the way. The barns and farms popped up as you’d expect, and the country stores and antique shops lined the roads in between.

Okemo Mountain Resort is in the town of Ludlow. A snow covered small town just as you’d expect in Vermont. There’s some interesting looking small restaurants, and we were happy to find a supermarket! That proved very useful for our in room dinner our first night. All our other meals were at the diverse and delicious food restaurants at Okemo. Learn more about our dining at Okemo Mountain Resort in my article, Eat Beyond The Boring at Okemo Mountain Resort Restaurants.

If you come for Okemo skiing you certainly will find what you are looking for! With a variety of trails, ski lessons and advanced chair lifts, Okemo is geared for beginners and experts. But if you don’t ski (like me), there’s still plenty of play to be had. The Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster takes two riders along the mountain in a coaster ride where you control the speed. The Ice House offers outdoor ice skating at Okemo and a trip to the mountain has to include some snow tubing! Get the rush of coasting down the mountain without needing to know how to ski. Want to warm up? Day passes are available for the Spring House Pool and Fitness Center – hot tub, pool, fitness center and racquetball courts. Read about our experience skiing Okemo Mountain Resort in Ski Okemo Mountain Resort with Lessons & Trails for All.

Of course Okemo Mountain Resort is more than a day trip from New Jersey, but you’ll find your comfort lodging at the Jackson Gore Village. On the property is the Jackson Gore Inn along with two buildings with condominium offerings. With Okemo lodging accommodations for up to 12 guests the Village offers standard rooms, suites with fireplaces and kitchens, up to three bedrooms. The Village is located at the base of Jackson Gore which means ski in/ski out!

While you’re not skiing there’s an indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub and a relaxing sauna for those sore skiing muscles. Comfort, quality and convenience is waiting for you at the Jackson Gore Inn at Okemo Mountain Resort. Read all about our relaxing stay at the Jackson Gore Inn, part of the Okemo Ski Mountain lodging options, in Jackson Gore Inn at Okemo Mountain Resort.
