This Hoboken playground is located at 1 11th Street in Hoboken in Hudson County. The park is part of the Hoboken park system.

What kind of playground equipment does Maxwell Place Park have?

Melanie initially reported on this playground in 2014. When we visited on June 30, 2022, we found the playground equipment was the same. Our pictures and details in this review are based on our June 2022 visit.

This is a fenced-in playground with two play areas. The first piece of playground equipment is intended for children from 5 years old to 12 years old.

The second piece of playground equipment was designed for toddlers and preschool children from 2 years old to 5 years old.

Are there swings?

Near the playground, but in a separate fenced in area is a swing set with 2 traditional swings and 2 baby swings.

Are there slides?

Each playground structure has two slides. The older kids’ playground has an open twisting slide and straight side-by-side slides.

The little kids’ playground has a slightly curvy slide and wavy side-by-side slides.

What special features does the playground offer?

Both playgrounds features climbing ladders, a tic tac toe activity board, and some sensory play.

In addition to the features described above the preschool playground features a tunnel and a bubble-like dome.

What kind of ground cover does the playground have?

The ground cover is a light blue and black rubber padding.

Is the playground at Maxwell Place Park accessible?

Accessibility is limited at this playground. While the ground cover is smooth there are no ramps onto the equipment. There is only a tic tac toe board that is available at the ground level for play. There are no accessible swings.

Is there shade available at the Maxwell Place Park Playground? 

There is a long canopy that provides shade over the benches. It may provide shade on the playground but when we were there in the afternoon the playground was in the full sun.

The toddler playground has a canopy that may provide shade and there is a small play area underneath one end of that playground.

Where is parking for Maxwell Place Park? 

There is no designated parking lot or parking spaces for this park. We were able to take advantage of some free street parking at the shoppes, but only because we planned to be at the playground for only a short period of time. Visitors looking to stay long enough to play, have a picnic, or shop in town will need to find paid parking options.

Are there restrooms at Maxwell Place Park playground?

There were no restrooms available or within view of the playground during our visit.

What else is there to do at Maxwell Place Park?

In addition to the playground at Maxwell Place Park, there are not many additional amenities available for visitors.

Are there walking trails?

Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views by walking along the waterfront on paved paths.

Are there fields or courts for sports? 

There were no fields or sports courts in the park. There was an open grassy area with wheelchair-accessible picnic tables.

You can’t beat the view! Right on the Hoboken waterfront with spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline, Maxwell Place Park is in a location you won’t want to leave. Washington Street with shopping and popular eateries is just a few blocks away, as well as the PATH for easy access into Manhattan.

The park offers plenty of open space for lounging or a game of catch.
