Returning to Lancaster for our Family Travel to Lancaster Series

Is there a carriage ride in my future? I sure hope so.

Is there a carriage ride in my future? I sure hope so.

Our Weekends in Lancaster returns this upcoming weekend and I have to tell you I am almost squealing with excitement. Not only will my family and I get to visit some new locations, but we also get to do it with some of our favorite blogging friends.  Our friends at Girls Lunch Out have organized this amazing complimentary media trip for bloggers and their families.

Girls’ Lunch Out is a place for women to connect, learn and lunch through networking events for women. Whether you work full time outside of the home, or manage our children and household business inside of the home, Girls’ Lunch Out networking events for women connects influential women in social media to build relationships, learn about brands and connect with other like-minded women.

First take a look at the latest family-friendly Lancaster hotel we will be staying at, the Bird-In-Hand Family Inn and Restaurant.

BIrd in Hand

Here’s what I know about the Bird-In-Hand Family Inn and Restaurant. I can’t wait to experience this and share with you the details.

Bird-In-Hand Family Inn Amenities

(we’ll share the complete list in our full article on the Bird In Hand, but I wanted to share what I am looking forward to most.)

  • Family Suites & King Rooms (always great to have enough room to spread out)
  • Complimentary Wireless Internet (even better for us to share details with you)
  • Two Heated Indoor Pools & Hot Tub
  • Family Restaurant including Smorgasbord and menu dining (Isn’t life easier when there is a great family restaurant where you are staying.)

Bird-In-Hand Family Inn Activities

My kids will have no reason to be bored. Between the activities here on the property and the Lancaster family attractions we are going to be busy having so much fun.

  • Petting zoo
  • 2 18-Hole Miniature Golf courses (fee to play)
  • Complimentary 2-Hour Amish Farmland Tour
  • Fitness room
  • Game room
  • Indoor pools/hot tub
  • Outdoor pools
  • Picnic pavilion
  • Playground
  • Pond & walking trail
  • Tennis & basketball courts

Here are the family attractions in Lancaster we will be visiting.

The Amish Village

  • This is going to be a thrill for my boys. I remember visiting with my husband in the early days of our marriage, before kids. Now I’ll be experiencing the Amish way of life through their eyes. I think it will be so eye-opening to them, no fancy electronic toys, just good old fashioned fun.

The Strasburg Railroad

  • We’ve told you about Strasburg before with our Day Out With Thomas and the Santa’s Paradise Express. This visit we’ll take a ride on the train and attend their Vintage Baseball Day. My boys are just getting into baseball, watching the Phillies and participating in our community’s weeball and rookie teams. It’s going to be neat to have them learn how baseball was played back in the day.

Choo Choo Barn

  • We’ve made some visits to Choo Choo Barn in the past, but checking out trains never gets old. Besides Tom is always adding new details and animations to the Choo Choo Barn set up.  I am sure we’ll have new videos to share with you. Check out this one from one of our past visits.

In full disclosure, this is a sponsored media trip for Jersey Family Fun hosted by the above locations. We are required to write 2 blog posts and provide a certain number of social media mentions. However, we are not being told what to say. All opinions are our own and honest based on our excitement and love for the Lancaster area as being a great vacation destination for New Jersey families.
