In full disclosure we were given credit to dine at Gametime Bar and Grill as well as iPlay America Power Play Pass cards and arcade credit in exchange for our story about iPlay America. We appreciate iPlay America’s support of Jersey Family Fun and our efforts to share fun family activities in New Jersey with our readers. As always, all opinions are our own. iPlay America is a Jersey Family Fun Partner in Fun.
Get Your Midweek Fun at iPlay America!
Weekends can be BUSY. Kids have activities, parents might have second jobs, there’s family to visit and houses to clean. Sometimes it’s easier to find a weeknight to have fun (as long as you don’t have homework of course!). That was the case for us recently, as our kids had some great report cards and we wanted to treat them to some arcade fun and a good meal (that I didn’t have to cook). We live about a half hour from iPlay America and we could get there at the opening time of 4:00 pm, so we headed out in search of some fun!
We have been to iPlay America plenty of times, but this time we wanted to focus on the games. I am a huge fan of the Wizard of Oz game, my son and husband love video games, and my daughter is constantly trying to beat the claw. In the interest of time, we didn’t plan on riding any rides this time even though iPlay has some great ones!
iPlay America Power Play Pass Fun!
We got in just after 4 PM and activated our iPlay America Power Play Pass. That got us 4 hours filled with unlimited
- non-redemption video games
- 1 round of laser tag
- 1 ride on the Go Karts
- and one admission to the 4D Theater.
While you can’t play any games that get you tickets or prizes with the iPlay America Power Pass there’s still plenty of games to play. All the shooting and riding games are included. There’s air hockey, the HUGE Pac-Man, Zoltar, and even the photo booth! We had fun battling each other and I found a new favorite game, Let’s Go Island. I could have played that for an hour! The boys were thrilled to find Star Wars included in the list and we had to pull them away when it was time to head home.
What’s also great about a mid-week visit to iPlay America is the crowds are smaller so you CAN play a game for a long time. That’s helpful when you’re having an air hockey tournament! We didn’t only play the nonredemption games for the 4 hours though. We certainly couldn’t visit iPlay America without playing our favorite claw games and Wizard of Oz. We visited on a Tuesday night but if you’re a Wizard fan, check out Wizard Wednesdays when your points are doubled. Our claw luck was mixed but we did all come away with a prize. Arcade games are our favorite and the selection at iPlay America doesn’t disappoint.
Remember, the iPlay America Power Pass gets you more than video games. Challenge your family to laser tag, experience the thrills of the 4D theater, and race each other in the Go Karts. We did it all! The Red Beards Rapids 4D movie is about 6 minutes of excitement! You’ll get a little wet, feel like you’re falling, and laugh a whole lot. There are multiple movies to choose from. At 56″ you can drive a Pine Belt Speedway Go Kart on your own, but as young as 4 can ride along with a driver! They do go fast but no bumping! To end our night we entered the Cosmic Battle laser tag arena and it was intense! Just the 4 of us battled each other, and 8 minutes of battling and running around two levels wore us out! There were a lot of laughs though and only one true winner (I’m sure it was me). An iPlay America Power Play Pass is $29.99/person.
Now if all that isn’t enough for you, there’s so much more at iPlay America. Boardwalk games, a dozen more rides, and a ropes course are all there for your family fun night. Just be sure to leave enough time to enjoy it all!
Game Time Bar & Grill
All this fun requires some refueling right? iPlay America has thought of that too. The Game Time Bar & Grill opens at 4 PM weekdays and has a family-friendly menu. We took a break from our 4 hours of unlimited games to head to the restaurant inside the iPlay America complex. Game Time has a large bar but seating away from the bar also, and of course lots of televisions to watch sports while you eat. What we liked the most about the space was the games. We found shuffleboard, pool, and more traditional video games. For those little ones who are amped up about spending time at iPlay for games, Game Time Bar & Grill is a great spot where they can be moving around while waiting for their meals.
The restaurant was quiet on our weeknight visit, and our server was very attentive. The Game Time Bar & Grill menu offers more than 10 starters, and we couldn’t resist the pretzel nuggets. The portion was enough for all four of us, and really hit the spot for those hungry kids who were running from video game to video game! In the mood for pizza, burgers or salads? There’s plenty of options for those selections but also more refined entrees like Buffalo Mac & Cheese, Tortellini Primavera and Mexican Mahi Tacos. Kids can enjoy Chicken Quesadillas, a Nathan’s Hot Dog, Hamburger Sliders and more.
We waited just under a half hour for our entrees from when we ordered. The time went fast as we played pool and shuffleboard and the kids needed to be coaxed back to eat even though they were hungry! We enjoyed large portions of burgers and chicken tenders and even took some leftovers home. The Game Time Bar & Grill meals are reasonably priced, but head to Game Time’s website for current specials – sometimes kids eat free and $10 Tuesdays give you all you can eat!
And when you’re done eating, you can be back to the playtime in seconds! You can’t find a more convenient dining option for your family fun night.
Enjoy iPlay America any night, but if you’re bringing the kids don’t go Fridays as it’s adults only.
