A Saturday or two ago, among the crazy weather and our plans to get to the balloon festival, we stopped by Houlihan’s in Bridgewater, New Jersey for an early lunch. What a welcoming environment! As Michael, from Houlihan’s, and I talked about the restaurant, my niece and the staff kept my boys entertained.
Take a look at my interview with Mike and what my kids thought about Houlihan’s.
Did you know?
- Houlihan’s has 15 locations in New Jersey.
- Kids can have meals made-to-order, just let your server know what you/they would like
- A vegetarian menu is available by request
- Glutun – free options available
- 135 menu options are made from scratch in the Houlihan’s Restaurant
Mike and his staff made sure we ate well. They brought out their best dishes for us to try. In between courses, my kids got a huge kick out of the Lunchtime Trivia game. Throughout the restaurant, overhead televisions show trivia questions and diners from across the country compete by answering the questions. You would have thought my kids were playing for real. They thought they were. They yelled out answers and cheered each other on. It was hysterical.
Here’s some of the delicious foods we dined on.
Houlihan’s Appetizers & Soups
- Spinach Dip
- Stuffed Mushrooms – Biggest & Most Delicious I’ve ever had!
- Award Winning Baked Potato Soup – Very Yummy!
Houlihan’s Kids’ Menu
From the kids’ menu my boys ordered…..yep pasta and salad. Their dressings came on the side, which I loved. My boys felt so grown up putting on their own dressing and sauces. Kids can also order Macaroni & Cheese, Grilled Cheese, Chicken Fingers, Grilled Chicken, Cheeseburgers, Corndogs.
I’ve been on a big salad kick lately. So I was thrilled to find the Spinach Salad on the Houlihan’s menu. It looked and tasted great. It was just filling enough to leave room for desert. ;-)
Houlihan’s offers a great list of desserts. My boys had ice cream. I had..2 yes 2 desserts. Mike insisted I have the Chocolate Cappuccino cake but I was hesitant I don’t like coffee so I was worried about liking the cake. I ordered the Creme Brulee as back up. (It was going to be a long day. I needed the sugar. ) Well, both desserts were so delicious. And the Cappuccino Cake was more chocolately that coffee. I couldn’t taste the cappuccino. If you want something chocolatey this is the dessert to try.
It was a great lunch. Bellies filled and kids wired from the games and the sugar, we said our goodbyes and gave our thanks for a meal well-done. Then, we were off to the balloon festival to burn off all their energy.
