I’ve seen Freedom Rising twice now at the National Constitution Center and my feelings about the show have not changed. This 17 minute multi-media show has the potential to change how you feel about our country and how much you know about our history. It will bring American History, it’s highlights and past mistakes to light in a way that will have your children on the edge of their seat excited to watch and eager to learn.
“Freedom Rising” uses the combination of music, film, lighting, a one-person live performance, and special effects to tell the story of our Constitution in a direct, engaging, and unforgettable way.
.
Freedom Rising explores
- the Constitution’s vision of “popular sovereignty,” or rule by the people.
- the importance of active citizenship.
- the way the definition of citizenship has expanded over more than two hundred years of American history
- the meaning of “We the People” back in the 18th century – white men without property, women, African-Americans, other people of color
Seating is never a problem. The 360° theatre seats 350 people. Shows take place several times a day and are included with your National Constitution Center admission ticket. Each show is 17 minutes long and is suitable for children and adults. (Parents are able to bring strollers inside and position them out of the way during the show.)
Have you seen the show? We’d love to know what you thought about Freedom Rising.
