As part of our continued series on family travel to the Jersey Shore, we’re thrilled to share some ideas for planning a family vacation to Long Branch, New Jersey. While you can’t go wrong with a beach vacation in Long Branch, you don’t need to wait until summer for a family vacation at the Jersey Shore. Monmouth County offers lots of year round activities to help families have fun any time they visit.

 

Eat: Long Branch Area Restaurants

When traveling to the Jersey Shore with your kids, you need family friendly dining options.

  • We were treated to a quick and tasty lunch with Habit Burger Grill in Eatontown. Check out the adult-sized healthy salad my 8 year old son devoured! You can see more pictures in this Facebook album.

Play: Things to do in the Long Branch area

The wonderful thing about Long Branch, New Jersey is its convenient location in relation to all the fun things there are for kids to do in Monmouth County.

 

Sunny Day Activities

On warmer, sunnier days, take a walk along the Long Branch boardwalk, enjoy the beach, or play a while at Seven Presidents Park (click over to read about Seven Presidents Park and see our most recent pictures here). Seven Presidents Park offers kids classes and activities during the year, see their calendar here.

We also took a drive over to Shark River Park, where we explored hiking trails and playgrounds for hours. We easily could’ve spent all day there. My boys loved being outdoors, walking along the creek and climbing hills. Take a look at these pictures in our Facebook album and read about Shark River Park in this article.

Parking fees are only in effect from Memorial Day to Labor Day, so your off season trip to Sandy Hook is free! During the off-season the Sandy Hook Nature Center may not be open. Check the Sandy Hook calendar of events to be sure and make the most of your visit! Kids can learn about seals, horseshoe crabs, trees, and more. While visiting, kids can also earn a Junior Ranger badge.

 

Year Round Activities in Long Branch, New Jersey

A visit to the Silver Ball Museum has been on our New Jersey bucket list of things to do with the kids. We were all so excited to make a visit to this New Jersey pinball museum as part of our trip. The Silver Ball Museum is just minutes away in nearby Asbury Park. Open year round, you don’t need to wait until summer to enjoy some old fashioned gaming. Winter, spring, summer or fall, a family vacation to Long Branch is a great way to travel to the Jersey Shore.
