Despite being off of Route 1, David B. Crabiel Park Playground in Milltown is peaceful! It’s clean, beautifully landscaped and when we were there it was quiet. There were a few people enjoying the paths for biking or running but this isn’t a park for day camps or large crowds when games aren’t in play on the fields.

As part of our challenge to write about 100 New Jersey playgrounds in 100 days we bring you the details about David B. Crabiel Park Playground, a playground in Milltown, New Jersey, Middlesex County.
Melanie originally wrote this review back in 2016. While the playground is still very much the same we revisited it on June 29, 2022, for some new pictures and updated details about what this Central Jersey playground offers.
Where is David B. Crabiel Park located?
The playground is located at 38 Elkins Lane in Milltown, New Jersey. The park is part of the Middlesex County park system.
The playground is in such a great location! It’s situated right off Route 1 means when you are out visiting, or shopping, it’s a quick stop for everyone to have a chance to stretch their legs. Easy on and off the highway and bonus that there’s a clean bathroom that was unlocked when we were visiting.
What kind of playground equipment does the David B. Crabiel Park have?
The playground area offers two main playground structures, swings, slides, and multiple ways to climb.
Are there swings?
There were two swing structures. One swing structure had 4 baby swings.
The other swing structure had 3 traditional swings and one accessible swing.
Are there slides?
Both playground structures offered slides. There was one straight closed tunnel slide. There was a side-by-side slide. The rest of the slides were curvy or straight.
What special features does the playground offer?
This playground offers kids multiple ways to climb. There were climbing ladders, climbing platforms, and a large boulder for rock climbing.
The rock climbing boulder! What a great feature for a playground, it’s much more engaging than the average playground structure rock wall. With grips on all sides at different angles and heights it’s a challenge for all ages (make sure to wear sneakers!)
Additionally, there were tunnels, stepping pods, monkey bars, sensory play areas, and a ride on toy.
What kind of ground cover does the playground have?
The ground surface was wood mulch.
