Have you been to the circus lately?
It’s not the show you remember. Yes, there are elephants parading around in beautifully adorned garb. And yes, the crazy cat trainer still locks himself in a cage coercing tigers to do tricks. But the 2012 DRAGONS show produced by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey raises the circus bar and proves it really is “The Greatest Show on Earth”
Forget high-wire walking. Try to envision a high-wire motorcycle act! Forget acrobats on ropes. Picture hair-hanging wonders spinning thirty feet high! And imagine this: Kung Fu masters bending steel with their bodies! This is one WILD show. The performers of DRAGONS are professional acrobats…working with animals, fire, and weapons…all without nets below or armored protection.
To say that my three year-old daughter was mesmerized is an understatement. In fact, I couldn’t even tell if she was enjoying the show. My husband, on the other hand, couldn’t stop talking. “Did you see that?” he’d say. “Look over there!” “This is incredible.” With a live orchestra playing in the background and state-of-the-art digital screens enhancing the set, Ringling Bros. and continues to push the envelope while keeping family favorites in the act.
DRAGONS is touring the New Jersey area through May. I’d recommend you gather a crowd of friends to get the group sales discount and make a day of it. Don’t forget to bring souvenir money—they can be expensive but have a two-year guarantee. At the end of the night when we arrived home, my daughter couldn’t stop talking about the princesses on the elephants. These are memories to cherish.
