Open Public Viewing Nights
Observatory’s 20-inch, research-grade telescope is open to the public free of charge on Wednesday evenings. The focus of each session depends on observing conditions, so check this website often for details and updates.
Viewing requires a clear sky, so the Observatory is closed on cloudy, rainy, and snowy nights. Please check this web-site for the most up-to-date information and announcements.
Weather permitting, the Observatory is open to the public every Wednesday from 8:30PM until 10:30PM.

WICS & Chamber of Commerce Host Halloween Parade
Calling all ghosts & goblins! Glen Rock Women In Community Service (WICS) and the Glen Rock Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring the Annual Children’s Halloween Costume Parade on Saturday, October 29th. Children grade 3 and younger are welcome to participate. Families should gather at Veteran’s Park (off Main Street) beginning at 9:00 a.m. WICS members will be handing out treat bags, donuts and cider. The parade will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. Children may begin trick-or-treating immediately following the parade at participating merchants. Look for the ORANGE PUMPKIN posted in their window!
(In case of rain, the parade will be held in the RHS Auditorium)

Rutherford’s youngest residents are invited dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and participate in the 41st annual Ragamuffin Parade on October 29th at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m. to register. Parents/relatives/friends are welcome to march in the parade too!
Participants are invited to assemble in front of Rutherford High School, 56 Elliott Place.
The Parade will kick off at 10 a.m., continue along Park Avenue, and end with a costume contest in Lincoln Park! In case of rain, the parade will take place in the Rutherford High School Auditorium. Trick or treat bags will be given out to children. Prizes will be awarded for the Top 10 costumes. Thanks to the Felician University Ladies Basketball Team for once again marching in the parade and serving as judges.
All Children in grades Pre-K through 3rd are invited to participate in the Annual Parade on Saturday, October 29th beginning at 10am on the Broadway side of the Train Station. The Parade goes up Westwood Ave. to Center Ave. ending at the Community Center where special entertainment is waiting as well as refreshments.

Rag-A-Muffin Parade – The Board of Recreation will be sponsoring its annual Rag-A-Muffin Parade on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. sharp. All participants should meet at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Hobart Street, no later than 10:30 a.m., with their registration form. As in the past, prizes will be awarded in all divisions and each child will receive a “goody bag”. The rain date will be Sunday, October 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with registration at 1:30 p.m. sharp. 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat
All Children of Little Ferry up to 5th Grade SATURDAY October 29, 2016 at 4:00pm to 6:00pm
(following the raga muffin parade)

Trunk or Treating starts promptly at 4:00 so please have your car parked by 3:30 pm so you have time to complete decorating and setting up.
All participants agree to bring their cars and stock the trunks with enough Halloween Treats for all
children participating. One Family per Car-all cars must be registered in advance. Entry passes will be
sent home with your child.
MANY CHILDREN IN TOWN HAVE ALLERGIES-ALL TREATS MUST BE NUT FREE
Only families registered in advance can participate. The event will be supervised by the Little Ferry
Police Department, for safety reasons we cannot accept Drive –Ups or walk-ins.
An email will be sent to all who sign up with the number of children participating so no car runs short of treats. Entry tickets will be sent home with your child prior to the event.
Participants are encouraged to decorate their cars for the event. There will be a prize for the best decorated car.

The Fort Lee Fall Historic Jitney Tour “Ghosts of Fort Lee” rolls Sunday, October 30th! Admission is free but first come / first served. Sign up is from 9am-11am at the Fort Lee Film Commission table at the Fort Lee Farmer’s Market in the plaza of the Community Center (1355 Inwood Terrace) on the day of the event. Come visit the Glen Rock Historical & Preservation Society’s Museum at the Station, open on the last Sunday of each month from 1 to 3 pm. Permanent and rotating displays showcase items and events from Glen Rock’s past. Free admission although donations are gratefully accepted. Appropriate for all ages. Halloween Costume Parade
The annual Halloween Costume Parade, sponsored by the Recreation Committee, will be held rain or shine at 5pm on October 31, 2016 at the Mahwah Municipal Building. Children in costume will be judged by age group, prizes will be awarded and free refreshments will be available. The Mahwah High School volunteer club, helps with everything from decorating the field to leading ghosts, goblins around the field. Secor Farms lends a hand as well by providing hay bales and pumpkins for decorating the field.
The Borough of Rutherford will host its third annual Halloween Spooktacular on October 30 at the Memorial Field. The Halloween Festival will begin with fun offerings for younger children
earlier in the evening, and then transform into a scary atmosphere upon nightfall for our older children.
Last year’s event offered lots of fun opportunities…let’s see what the Halloween Spooktacular 2016 will offer.
Plans are as follows:
Children in Grade 3 and younger are invited to attend a Trunk or Treat event from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. and are encouraged to wear their costumes! Please BYO Trick or Treat bag. Children will be welcome to enjoy a bounce house and train ride. Parents, don’t forget your phones because you’ll have the opportunity to take pictures of your children with Superheroes and Princesses!
Events for older children begin at 6 p.m., and will include a scary hay ride. No bottles will be permitted on the hay ride.
Refreshments will be available for purchase to benefit Rutherford High School’s Project
Graduation. Please be sure to stop by and show your support.
Check back for additional details about the entire Festival as plans develop. A reunification site will be designated closer to this event.

What is Trunk or Treat?
Families are invited to park their Halloween decorated vehicles in the park-
ing lot beginning at 5:00pm on Monday, October 31st. Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated trunk
In order for us to plan parking, families must call the Recreation Department at 201-816-8065 to reserve a spot.
While decorating your vehicle is the fun part of the event, it is not necessary to participate.
Trick or treaters are invited to move from car to car to show off their cos- tumes and collect treats from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
DJ Sean will be here to rock our party outside with great music, will will also have some fun games.
Don’t forget your Trick or Treat bag. Residents only
Bring your children in their costumes to parade around the lot and then go trick or treating from “trunk to trunk.” You must pre-register to attend this event. Spots are limited. Register ASAP. We hope you will join in on the GHOULISH fun! Volunteers are needed to make this night a success! We are asking for families to decorate their trunks and supply Halloween candy to be a “Trunker” participant so the children can have a fun trick or treating night. We will let you know the number of children attending, as the event gets closer, so you can plan for how much candy is needed. You can even share your trunk, cost of decorations, and candy with another family. “Trunker” participants can start arriving after 4:45pm to decorate. All cars MUST be decorated by 6:00pm for the start of the parade. The Trunk or Treating will immediately follow. Please keep scary decorations to a minimum. Thank you for your support in making this a fun and safe Halloween night for the children. You MUST register by Sunday, October 23rd, 2016!
