My dear blogging friend, Brandi, from Mama Knows it All put it best when she tweeted, “Movies like @theblackpanther and @pixarcoco aren’t just for children of color. They’re for EVERYBODY!”

I couldn’t agree more. Being a part of the Pixar Coco Event was not only exciting but it also opened my eyes to a new culture that I have grown to love. And sharing that with my children, they have come to love Coco as much as I do. If I would have looked at Coco as just Hispanic film we would have missed out on a beautiful story about families.

Now excitement is building for the Black Panther movie, but truth be told it’s already been there for many many families. Ever since my 9 year old got his first Black Panther comic book a few years back, he’s been a big fan of the Black Panther. When he started seeing trailers for the Black Panther movie… he insisted we help him learn more. He has been counting the days till we can take him to see it. And of course we always love sharing news with you on new movies to consider for family movie night.

Last year, I had the amazing good fortune of attending Disney press junkets to not only see the newest Disney movie releases but to also go behind the scenes to learn about the making of Disney films and to interview the talent behind the film. There’s nothing like getting a pixie-dust filled email from Disney publicist, Marshall with a subject line of You’re invited. If you are a Disney movie blogger, you’re excited for every movie, but some more than others. There are some where you want, hope, and dream of getting that pixie-dusted email invitation to the press junket. For my dear blogging friends Brandi from Mama Knows It All and Amiyrah from Four Hats & Frugal an invitation to the Black Panther press junket was on their wish list. When it came for them, a few weeks ago, I was overjoyed. It can be just as exciting to see your friends’ dream come true as it can be to have your own. I won’t be on the red carpet with them, but I am honored to help you all learn more about the Black Panther movie through their blog posts and information directly from Disney.
