A little decorating for our party

Back to school can be a bittersweet time. The carefree summer schedule comes to an end, the pool and beach time disappears, and the reality that your children are in the next grade up is unavoidable. Add to that the busy-ness that comes with sports and homework and other commitments and before you come up for air, it’s Halloween.

Don’t let the excitement that is back to school go without some celebration and recognition! It’s not too hard to come up with a fun get together that can get everyone together to regroup, and get excited for the year to come. Some kids may be nervous about starting a new grade or a new school, and talking to friends can be a confidence booster. It’s a convenient opportunity for parents to also check in about extra curricular activities, tips to make the hectic days smoother, and connect while the kids are occupied. Parties are made even easier with the convenience of a Sam’s Club Family Pizza Combo at the center of it all!

Here are 4 easy ways to throw an A+ Back to School Party!

  • One of our favorite “I’m bored” activities involves duct tape, so we have lots in our home. Duct tape can dress up anything  from purses to furniture and is an easy way to personalize your school supplies! With some low cost notebooks and pens, and whatever duct tape you have in your stash, your guests can use their creativity to change boring notebooks into fun and stylish school gear. Get fancy and make flower pens (makes a great teacher gift too).

  • Get the kids moving while you learn about their school day! Ask them to show you their favorite gym class activities, or their favorite games from recess or field day. Make one lucky kid the gym teacher complete with whistle or bullhorn, and put them in charge of the parents who get to show their skills too.

  • Think to the future and set some goals for the year. Have some card making supplies or scrapbook paper, stickers, fun pens and stamps for kids to write a letter to their future selves. Ask them what their goals are, what they’re excited to learn, and what they think they’ll like the best. For fun, have them take a selfie now and put a print of the picture in the envelope too to capture their look (as we all know, it changes a lot!), measure their height, and open the envelope at a last day of school party.
