It’s Halloween time!
Can you believe Halloween is just a few weeks away? Do you celebrate with Halloween parties?
If you’ve been reading our blog posts lately, you’ll notice we love getting the kids together with their friends for all kinds of playdates. In the hustle and bustle of sports, school homework, and extracurricular activities we can easily forget to work in time for our kids to just have free time to play. Sometimes we can’t possibly find the time. Other times we think it might take too much work. But playdates don’t have to be work. I promise with some minimal effort you can make it happen.
Halloween is one of those holidays that gives us the perfect excuse to get the kids together. And I admit that this October has to be my busiest ever. I will be away 3 of the 5 weekends for work related to Jersey Family Fun. Still I was determined to find some easy ways to give my kids and their friends a sweet Halloween party. I took off for my local Walmart to see just how could I pull it off. What would Walmart have to make this Halloween Party super easy? First, I came across these bags of large variety Hershey candy bags and then the Halloween decor. Before I knew it I had three tips that will help us all with our Halloween parties.
Idea One ~ The easiest Halloween tablecloth ever!
Purchase a plain plastic tablecloth in your favorite Halloween color of black or orange. Purchase 1 or 2 packs of Halloween stickers. You can go with silly stickers with ghosts and witches or something a bit scary with googly eyes. Place the stickers randomly on the tablecloth. That’s it. You have an easy Halloween tablecloth that is less expensive than ones you’ll find in most party stores and will hold up better than a traditional paper party tablecloth.
Idea Two ~ Simplest Halloween Centerpiece ever!
When this idea struck me I have to admit I thought it was pure genius. I bought two bags of the large variety Hershey candy bags, one Goodies Galore Variety Bag and one Kit Kat/Reese’s Miniatures Variety Bag. These bags were huge I could not believe how much candy was in them. I took one of our fancier candy bowls, poured in the candy. Then, I added two large pretend spiders. Just scary enough but very tempting for kids looking for a sweet treat during our party. Again, with older kids or those who need a bigger fright you can add in a pretend severed hand, skeleton, or something else creepy.
We posted to Instagram how we did it.
Here’s our finished sweet Halloween Centerpiece.
Idea Three ~ Turn Your Snack into a Creature
When last we had a playdate we were having fun with Hershey’s Pudding and some edible Halloween decorations we found. We created pudding cup creatures with items you might normally use with a sundae and pudding. What made them extra spooky was using the edible eyes and such we found at Walmart. We went for sillyness in our creatures, but Walmart does have some edible items that are on the more spooky side. You could use this same idea for decorating cupcakes, ice cream sundaes, and more.
